Ya I saw that, and also I see that my motor was the fastest one there:D
Gotta love it!
Looks like you all had some great fun and the weather looks like it was right on for a combat challange.
Thanks

Lou, I am somewhat stunned. The RCGroups forum is a blast with lots of great folks, posting great stuff. I am stunned that the combat forum is a Trial Forum?
If we were to really work some magic here, we could attract new RC Combat pilots. The forum needs a sponsor, and I was thinking AREA-52 might be interested in doing it.
I just can't believe that the MOST fun you can have with an RC plane is still in the shadows on this website.

Hi Terry,
There haven't been many posts on this forum. Don't know why.

Terry,
After the Nats Don Pruitt and I are going to cut out some simple combat planes. We'll make up about 10 and sell them for cost to the other combat fliers locally plus hopefully get some new fliers interested.
The planes will follow your "spec" design idea. They will have 60" constant chord foam wings, fence post fuselages, HDPE engine mounts and coro tail feathers. We should be able to produce them for about $30 or less.
We want to use them for fun combat: no rules, no scoring, just flying for the fun and thrill of cutting streamers.
If it works we'll let everyone know and offer up the planes as complete kits.

I thought the spec planes were going to be 48" wingspan

Hi DrewJet,
We will go with 60"ers here because we are going to mandate draw tanks and let folks fly any .15. Figuring that we will be somewhat down on power we wanted the wing area so the planes would fly well with low wing loading and lots of lift.
This is not a "class" but instead flying for the fun of combat.

I have a bunch of 60 inch wings and fence posts already to go sort of. I flew one in contest earlier in the year and it flew fine. What I am doing though is vacuum forming the wing mount so I don't have to use flat bottom airfoils. (Hint, they are all my old Bat Trick wings fitted to the fence post.)
We have several guys who want to give it a go, and fly combat just for fun. If they decide to get more into it, well, you know there is plenty out there in the way of kits.

My appologies, I thought you were using a real engine (OS 25 FX) :D

Hi Terry,
There haven't been many posts on this forum. Don't know why.
If you want to post something about combat, where would you do it - here or on the RCCA forum.
That's why I think there aren't many posts here, Lou. I just look on here about once a month to see if anything's happening. Most combta pilots probably prefer to post combat stuff on the RCCA websit.
