if someone is interested at the address below you can find a little project to build an interface for connecting your RC radio to the PC via USB using the new USB flash chips 18F2455/2550 from Microchip:

a radio with PPM output and at least 4 channel is needed.

The project is totally free... on the site you can find the binaries, sources, schematics and layout of the circuit. The circuit uses SMT components.

With the replacement of the crystal for a 4 Mhz one rather than the 6 Mhz one, this new design works well with the existing PCB's I had made for the previous design based on 16C745 PICs (see below). whilst the hardware may be compatible, the internals of the PIC are so different.

Alessio and Andrea, nice of you to make the code available.

Really nice!
I'd been looking for RC USB joystick to make one to learn to fly a helicopter but couldn't find any where.
