Very nicely done Myron !!! That round nose and body had to be pretty hard to build but it looks very cool.

Hey Jett,

Thanks! I cant take credit for the shape though...Looks a little like photon torpedo from Star Trek or that of the nose of a Soviet Typhoon class sub!. That fuse was cut and shaped from foam out of "Centexflyers" CNC machine, then it was sent to Rick"zoom-zoom" and a solid plug was made from that mold that could then be used in a vacu-forming machine. Then Rick got some ABS plastic and "sucked it down" in two halves... the result is a glossy finished, SUPER strong fuse that doesnt need any formers... it is about 7"x5"x36" so it has a ton of room for payload....

Man, that is one neat fuse, I wish I had the ability to do that :( You might owe gene roddenbery some royalties for that one because it looks exactly like the star trek torpedo :D But thats what makes it cool, people will see and think its futuristic even if all you had on there was a rubber band powered prop :p

Jett,

I dont think I will ever use a conventional fuse again for a UAV project.. This one is extreemly tough, slick and shiney, CA bonds to it better than anything and the bulkheads only serve as a brace for mounting the nose gear and holding the wings down. I dont even have a ply LG block in it and it has flown at over 15 LBS...
I wonder if the Russians coppied him or did he copy the Russians!.. For the Trekkies out there, When was the Photon Torpedo first seen?.. For any Sub experts, When was the first Typhoon class sub introduced?....
