Is there a way to convert mcd to lumens?
like 3000 mcd equals X amount of lumens ?

I found this quote at the American Bright LED - FAQ

How can I convert from mcd to lumens?

There is no direct conversion between the two units. Luminous Intensity measured in Candela or Millicandela is the light output in a particular direction. While Luminous Flux measured in Lumens is the total light output in all direction.

IronSides, thats willfully disingenious. Placeing an arbitrary spherical surface around a source and doing a surface integral of its luminous intensity times some conversion factor will give you the lumens. Now, they're probably not set up to measure it, but is is technically possible to do.

/no I don't know the convestion factor.

Ironsides is absolutely right. Candela a measure of perceived brightness, lumens is a unit of total light output. In order to compute the total light output (lumens) of an LED from MCD, you would have to know the light distribution pattern.

A given LED element will have a fixed lumen output, but it's intensity (MCD) will vary greatly depending on how much the light is concentrated.
