I'm looking for a competition-grade 2m for contest work this summer. I usually fly DLG, but most local contests are winch and hi-start launch 2m and larger. So far on list: Atlanta Hobby's Highlight Mega 2 Meter and North East Sailplane's Renny and/or Omega. Any others I should consider?

Organic 2 Metre from Kennedy Composites Its more expensive than the others you mention but well worth the money (at least I think so).
If you are allowed to fly bigger you could look at the 2.5 m organic or one of the many 3 metre ships.

I have a First + and it would fit the bill. The Organic would be my #1 choice for your style of contest. In Australia, we are restricted to 2 function, typically rudder/elevator, in our 2m comps. I fly the First in our comps. I also sell the Blejzyk range. In the USa, you will find almost the same planes, from Art Hobby.

Tell us a bit more about your competitions. Do you need fast, high stress winch launches? How important are landing points? Is it often windy?

Yes on all counts....though I'm a sucker for a built-up/see-through wing (which I know may compromise the necessary qualities). Is the Organic tough enough for winch launches...and is the MH-32 airfoil a good penetrator?

Yes to your 2 questions.

We launch our First's on the winch all the time here. They get monster launches, and almost the same height as Open class models. In the Millennium Cup competition (for 2m span gliders) the gliders are launched by one or two man hand tow. Never seen one even come close to folding the wings.
I would imagine the Organics are safe to winch launch, and know of several pilots in the USA who do so on a regular basis.

How does the hand tow work? Whats the difference between two man and one man? Haven't seen it done here in US but sounds interesting.
