I have been looking at a flight sim, and curious which is preferred. The two choices are the new Ikarus or the Reflex. I really like the two and I jsut saw the freedom download for the reflex and thought it was pretty cool.

Thanks for the help

The Ikarus product is worlds better if you want realistic 3d hoverbatic effects.

I have the Reflex, and I sold my Realflight. But now I wish I had my Realflight back! I think the G2/G3 is the best for the money overall.

Everyone seems to have their own opinion on this subject, mine is Reflex. If your looking to fly helis, Reflex is definitely the way to go.

which one is more realistic for airplanes, not into helis now. I want the best all around best for flying and mostly to learn 3d. I dont want it to seem too easy for 3d and not be close to the actual flying.

I've got XTR and several 3D foamies and the accuracy of XTR is so good that I can use it to learn all the 3D manouevers in the sim before risking the real planes (some are EPP so they don't mind too much if I crash anyway though!). I've just been getting the hang of doing blenders in the sim and have now tried doing it for real on a Blitz.

So personally I'd highly recommend XTR for learning 3D plane flying (it's also VERY good for helis too)

Hi all :)

Im new and looking to get a sim too. Im interested in the best aircraft simulator for WinXP. I have a powerful pc so I dont need to worry about system requirements.

So reflex looks good, but what about the physics?

What Im really after is the most realistic simulation available so I dont learn anything "bad" for when I have my first instructor lessons.

Caldor, what you will find by posing that question is very biased responses in the forums. what ever you own you will say is the best ,its our way of justifying that the 200 dollars we spent on our sim. all the sims out their will teach you one very important thing.... stick movements! when you pull back on the stick the plane goes up , etc.. it will help you memorize those movements so you have a better chance of avoiding dumb thumbs when you fly in the real world. THATS ALL! Every thing else is eye candy and what planes you like the best. I have Reflex and would swear by it and if i get AFPD I will swear by it also! The thing I did when purchasing was look for comparisons of the main sims by people who own them all. the ones I read gave a slight edge to Reflex so I bought Reflex. If I bought AFPD I'm sure I would be happy also. Dont listen to the people who own just one of them and say it is the best and the others suck. they are uniformed and are the very problem with posting a question like that in these forums
