I've been having a blast with mine. Just wondering if any of you have one up and running yet?

Don, you probaly want to ask on the For-Sale thread. From what I can tell, most people who bought kits don't frequent the autogyro forum.

Don, Ari,

Yes.....Look here (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=345049&page=4) , I have been flying mine for a while, but finally have pictures to prove it can actually flys!! :)

Well Ari, we need to get them here!

I don't do AP myself, so I can't comment on the model's suitability for it. I'm waiting for someone like bhchan to test it with a camera, and then we could get the AP forum to visit here en-masse. People there have a lot of experience with SSs and seem to be willing to buy nifty aftermarket gizmos for them.

Ari,

Whats the loading on your setup? Have you tried taking up a can of Coke or some other weight? My SS with camera and all is 28 oz.

John, I'm guessing your 28oz SS flies on a brushless motor? All I have are brushed cans and ESCs, so it's difficult fot me to test that kind of weight. But since there seems to be interest in carying capacity, I'll make do some tests and publish a "manufacturer recommended" "gross weight".

JW,

See my post on camera with Slow-G, http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3755845&postcount=58

I have no problem with power with my new set up, I can fly initially with about 45% throttle, and when the voltage drops I slowly advance the throttle to full. When it get to that point(about 10-12 minutes into the flight), I land. I will not push the Slow-G till the battery is dead, as it will not "glide" too far. Specially if you are down wind. As far as using it to take AP, I have a visual problem with the Slow-G, there is not enough of "wing" to look at, all I look at is the tail when I am flying. Ari suggested to paint the "wing" with a dark color and may be the blades, like Don's. I usually fly pretty high when I'm APing, problem seeing the plane might not be a good thing when you have a 300.00 camera on the plane!!

Not at all Brian, at $300 I'd have the camera mounted to a 6 meter glider!

Mine flying great! Once I learned to use Locktite on the threads.
I found out it does not like inverted flight! It is an eye stopper at the field.

Bob,

You did what ??  I only tried very steep bank, about 90 deg. but did not have the gut to loop yet. I am thinking adding ailerons and see what it does to the controls.

Are you going to put EDF on the Slow-G? :) :) :) :D :D

one issue with AP is that you really want the camera under a solid wing to reduce the chance of lens flare due to an excess of light on the front element of the lens. Timing that for the exposures with a gyro could be tough.

EDF Gyro Copter now that is unique. Maybe two GWS 55 fans. :p
I'm crazy enough!

Bob,

May be 4-6 EDF 40 on the "wing"!!

hmm inverted auto gyro? i can see it now: "like a rock!"
(unless of coarse you had a variable pitch rotor!)

When I went inverted the rotors stoped spinning due to having the nose to high. When I pushed the nose down to speed up the rotors the left set started rotating backwards. This cause the plane to spiral into the the gound. Everything is now fixed and I should be flying this weekend.

Bob,

Did you roll into inverted or half looped?

I did a half loop, but at the top I stoped and did a tail slide which did me in. It was a funny sight coming down.

I hope I won't that with mine...:)
I will try to loop it though...bad blood in me wants to do it.

It loops fine. I just nose it down to pick up speed, then pull up!

"This is a public service announcement. We would like to remind you that the manufacturer does not recommend attempting aerobatic maneuvers with this aircraft."

Any videos of it looping? :=)

Bruff, what are you using for a power system?

bruff

Hacker A20-34S brushless outrunner, APC 8-6 prop ,using a 2S 1320 LiPo pack. More than enough power.

I posted this in another thread so Sorry but I'm having a good time with my Slow G.

Bob Ruff gave me his Slow G rotor setup with much surprise to me I'm having a blast with it. I have a Total of three flights with it now and I'm getting very use to how it flys. I have alot of Slow Stick flying time but the Slow G doesn't fly like my slow stick. Forward speed is a must to keep those rotors spinning but it doesn't take much. ROG take offs does take a little longer than the Stock SS. Landings take a little getting use to. I land with some power and about a foot off the Ground I do a high nose flare to a point I have almost zero forward speed to a soft touch down. It doesn't do any aerobatics but the Cool Factor is sure there. Just flying around is a real attention getter. This is about the closest thing to a Helicopter I ever flown. I have it trimmed to fly level just under 1/2 throttle any less than that it starts to descend or if I go above 1/2 throttle it climbs. Is this Normal flight behavior for a Gyro copter. Also I painted the whole thing with Acrylic paint from Walmart and didn't rebalance the Rotor setup. It seems to fly just fine with the added paint.

My setup is a Himax 2015-4100 BL + GWS D 6:1 GB and 11 x 4apc Prop.

Thanks for a cool design ITER and thanks a Bunch to Bob Ruff for giving me the Slow G Setup. Its AWSOME!!!!!!
