Does anybody know what I would be albe to aerotow with a 40 sized trainer/sport glow plane with a OS .46fx? Thinking about how to have fun with it but I dont know if I have any sailplanes small enough to tow behind a .46.
Any input on max wingspan I can tow etc. would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Clint,
I have successfully towed my 3.1m HF Duo Discus behind a Piper Cub w/ OS52Surpass many times. The Duo Discus weighs 98oz, hollow-molded glass with retract. The Cub is a Great Planes .40-size Cub, all tows performed off a hard-surface runway, take-off roll is maybe 100 feet for tug and glider. The climb is not steep, but more than adequate.
An OS.46FX ought to be able to tow any balsa glider of up to 3 meter span, weighing under 60 ounces. This includes most of the current stock of kit gliders, such as the Spirit 100, Bird of Time, Paragon, etc., plus many of the lighter TD ships. You will want to ROG, so if the glider doesn't have a belly wheel you will probably need a dolly. BTW, a Gentle Lady will go right up like a cork behind your OS46FX. Be sure to keep the speed down with the poly-winged gliders, lest the dutch rolls get out of hand.
Don.

Thanks for the advice. I'll start with a 60"er and work from there.
