Kevin/Billy,
Anymore info on the EF Yak? Id assume thats the 87" version with a 5xxx AXI but how about some particulars like prop, pack, amps, AUW??
I only ask b/c I am on the list for one on the next shipment and I would just 'hate' to have to stick a DA in it if I could go AXI :-)
Keep up the good work guys,
Scott

You should have a look at the one being flown by AtlantaHobby as well. They've got one using a double Cyclon 160. I believe it's got about 3700W. There's a video in the SEFF thread and some details on motor/prop/cells/AUW etc... are posted in the "Cyclon outrunners - What's the concensus?" thread.

Is the Atlanta Hobby Yak at Joe Nall?
Those are some GREAT pictures, thank you again!! Those motion pictures of Davids Edge with the smoke on are just way too cool!!

Really? I saw him sell some battery packs, something about wanting more power, and funding bigger packs or something... interesting...
Those 'BIG' Axi's sure look promising though.

What's that snake in post 25? I hate snakes!
Does SC have reciporicty with TX on gun permits? I could pack my snake gun.
Love those big AXI's however.
Add TP lipo's and CC controllers and its Heaven!
Oh, maybe an airframe too...
I was at SEFF a few weeks ago and was blown away by all those HUGE electrics. Maybe I need to go to Joe Nall next year. Hmm... Yahoo maps says Greenville and Americus are about the same distance from Atlanta. But how do I get a LARGE electric model airplane on the airliner???

I heard that the one at SEFF was the 50cc version and we might see the 100cc version at SEFF '06. Earl

A few disappointments...
- It's sad to see they didn't have a good turnout of people...
- It's too bad they didn't have any nice planes...
- I'm sorry that the HL folks had to suffer through this work week... So much suffering!
P.S. - The above comments were posted strictly out of jealousy and were heavily laden with sacrcasm. I want a job w/ HL. :p

Kevin and Billy. Ask David if when he gets back from partying at Nall to start a thread on the Yak. I was sorry to not see it at SEFF, but understand wanting it perfect. Hope you guys got some video of it as well :)
Guys,
That is the same 50CC EFRC yak that I own and converted with sponsership from Atlantahobby. I still have the plane and am moving up a "P" in batteries to push 4kw out of it. I dont plan on selling it unless I can get the 100cc in my hands. There is talk about the 100cc and four cyclon motors, but it is only talk at this point....well..talk and a lot of math :)
Keep the photos coming your guys. I am an hour and a half away and couldnt make it due to other commitments. Two years in a row...this is becoming a bad habit.

The attached photo is from back on page #2 of this thread - you can see him using a glow/gas starter on it.
It would make one beauty of a E conversion!

Funny you should say that, because thats exactly what I am doing at this very moment. Unfortunately, I only received the airplane last Saturday, so I didn't have time to have it ready for this year, but I was able to pick up some TP 5s4ps for it Thursday from Shulman aviation. ZB was still setting up at Esprit and unfornately HL only had the 5s3p. Oh well. And if you're curious, I'm using my tried and true and well tested e-converter, the C50-14xl with a 20x12 three-blade. I saw very few e-conversions this year, but I suspect by next year the numbers will be higher.

Actually we are still flying it and the Twin Cyclone Yak is getting better all the time. We just can't get the motors to get hot so 3700 watts is not enough for us so we continue to push it more. The motors are rated at 2000 to 3500 watts each so we think one would fly the 87 inch Yak fine but since we have 2 on it our smile is bigger and bigger. Photos are here and more 160's are on the plane scheduled for late next week. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=363631

That's me flying in the first picture. My OMP katana. The hot rod was "mine". I was building it for saddler. I never saw him fly it though. hmmmm. :) It went together nice. Wish I could have seen how it flew. Those $20.00 yaks are SWEET!!!. I picked up two.
