Okay, that L-1011 is about the coolest thing I've ever seen! Looked like the nose gear didn't retract completely.

Did the President ever have an L-1011?

Oh, I absolutely agree! It is so rare to find scale civilian aircraft, let alone an airliner, and certainly not Air Force One! (though I question the authenticity of the scheme myself).

I had a moment to speak with two of the gentlemen pictured in the photos. It is in fact an L-1011, or TriStar, from PCM Models (http://www.flypcm.com/index.htm) in Royal Palm Beach, Florida. The aircraft is powered by a single turbine in the rear. Sorry, didn't inquire about the specific brand, as I didn't want to come across as 20 questions.

I was in "aw" of the "Lovings lovely"- the beige, violet looking gull wing. That plane could fly- the pilot was excellent with it.

I wish I could find plans for it... I was told it was scaled after the real size one and built from scratch. Beautiful plane..

Kevin (the photographer) and I were crusing the show together so that explains why I'm in so many of the pictures. I talk to a lot of people every day on the phone working for Hobby Lobby. Literally every 10 feet we would see someone we knew or be stopped by people that had questions. It is great to be able to put faces to names and shake someone's hand that I had only known through phone calls. I was really impressed with how friendly the whole show was. It was a very positive experience.

Hello,
Great pictures. I look forward to attending one day, when I'm done with college and can fly my own airplane down. :) -Patrick

Chances are pretty good the L1011 at JN was the same one that visited our fly-in last month, so I've included some pics of the plane while it was here in Arizona.

This is such a nice coverage of a great show. Thanks for all the great pictures. Thank you Billy Hell. I have one question. Did anyone take videos of the Joe Nell Meet? If so, where are they and if so where or when could we see some? This would make a nice cap to the coverage also. I would like to see some of the large scale footage along with some 3D. Field coverage, Mystery Drop, comical, night flite, etc.

The crane was out that day just in case someone stuck a plane in a tree. A BIG plane was at the very top of the biggest tree. Bob Sadler went up in the basket and managed to retrieve it. It was a show and everyone was taking pictures. There were more than a few planes that "landed" in trees. He was way up there and that basket was swaying pretty good.

Billy, Just wanted to say "Thanks" for all the photos posted for us poor folks not in that part of the country.
Are there any events like this more in the Midwest coming up?

Well, at least they didn't drop frozen turkeys on the crowd like Les Nesman did on WKRP in Cincinnati.

Looks like the young skinny guys beat out the old fat guys for the sprint to the prize drop. ;)

After the egg drop there were a large number of guys limping back to the gate. The pushed their bodies a little too far!
