We are at it again! The Hobby Lobby crew is at Joe Nall and we are ready to bring you daily coverage of one of the biggest RC events in the country. Kevin, the official photographer and web guru, is already on the ground at Joe Nall and taking pictures as I type. We will be breaking the threads down into days to make it easier to navigate all the photos and captions of the event. Hope you guys enjoy it!!

Also, we will be covering the flying that goes on in the evening as well. That means there will be plenty of electric planes to check out.

Jim, have you seen any rough draft schedule of events for the week? Just wondering since I live local to the event.

Thanks in advance!

Nothing other than what's on the site. I'm still in Nashville and leaving in the morning. Kevin is out stomping around the field right now.

An Observation - On Tuesday May 10 at 7:45 p.m. I was at the great and famous Joe Nall and what did I see. Five planes in the air. One gas plane and four foamies. Yes foamies rule at the Joe Nall!

I am using the hotel Internet. Courtyard Marriot isn't bad for speed and it has wireless..

We have a wireless card for the laptop but HLWeb (Kevin) is uploading from the hotel twice a day.

Thanks guys...

I kinda figured the hotel bit since I didn't see a satellite dish with your vehicles at SEFF and the pictures are too hi-rez to use a wireless card. Thanks again for the great coverage. I couldn't make Joe Nall this year and it is a great way to attend vicariously...

We are all headed back to TN today and leaving Joe Nall. Everyone from Hobby Lobby had a great time. Once again, I can't tell you guys how much fun we had or how welcomed everyone there made us feel. It was like being at home (if your home had a huge lake, hangar, BBQ, world class pilots and the best planes on the planet). I want to personally thank Bob Sadler for being so nice to us all week long. What a great guy.
I also want to thank my good friend Kevin Butts (HLWeb) for all the hard work he did to get these pictures up on the web for everyone. He shot photos all day long and then spent late nights resizing and uploading to RCG. He went way above the call duty so we could all enjoy the event. Thanks Kevin for all your hard work and late nights.
Thanks also needs to go the Hartness family. It was their field that we were running around on all week. They played host to thousands of RC pilots and did it with a smile all week long. The whole Joe Nall crew made it look easy to host the largest RC event in the world and were great people to be around.
I could go on and on but I think you get the point.
I'd call this a success on every level and we can't wait to do it again next year. Thank you guys for taking the time to look at our pictures. It was our pleasure to do it.

I enjoyed the coverage. I was somewhat surprised by Hobby Lobby's large presence at Joe Nall, the event being an IMAA Giant Scale meet, and not typical of HL's genre. Does this in any way indicate an interest by Hobby Lobby to offer products similar to the typical Joe Nall vendors (i.e. giant scale planes, engines, and so forth)?

Didn't you see the picts of the giant scale electric in the threads here ?
Ive seen quite a few giant scale electric conversions over the past couple years. As batteries get more efficient and afordable we will prolly see even more.
They already offer alot of items for the giant scale. I'm sure Hobby Lobby would be more than happy to sell someone the electronics, motor and batteries for a giant scale conversion :)
