Guys, Whats is the Selves-Life of a Sealed Lead Acid Battery? I just bought a dozen of PANASONIC Rechargeable Sealed Lead-Acid Battery Model No. LC-R123R4P (12 Volts 3.4 AH) its made in Mexico, there a stamp of 021214, I guess its Manufacture in Dec.14,2002......its never been used, Brand New Sealed in a BOX.
I measure all Individual Battery its all read 12 Volts.....I plan to get more, cause its cheap, I just wonder how long will it last.
cost only P 125 each, that's about USD 2 only.....at Surplus store here.

challenger, most of the stuff sold in a surplus store, is a junk for other country......I just got lucky able to find a useable 12 Volts SLA battery, still in working condition....last time able to fine a Lithium-Ion battery 4.2 Volts 1400 MAH for only USD 1.
using a google search, got all the information I need, this battery is really popular.....Expected Trickle Life is 3 to 5 years, Life Conformed to EuroBat is 5 years, I Think its true, cause currently I am using a 2 pcs PANASONIC 6Volts 4AH for more than 3 years still working now.
Guys: there are still 10 boxes of 12 Volts 3.4 AH, and each box is 12 pcs Battery, its available at HMR Philippines, I guess its the Biggest Surplus store in the Philippines.
Now, I can make a smaller RC Starter.....current I am using a Sulivan starter with 2 pcs 6 Volts 4AH battery SLA battery attached to the Starter Motor.

Hi, Ellion
My olders SLA Batteries ( 6v 10 Ah ) are aboard my favourite boat ( and RC Tester ...1m10 and 12 kg, 2x Speed 700 e.motors ) for at least 15 years ...
The main fear must be to keep them empty ( no problem for cold temp in manilla ) ... I had one with the case inflated till it has cracked ...
Note, here I get lots of them for a drink : they come from computer security supplies ... and are thrown out as soon as warranty date passed !!!

Alain, WOW...15 years....still working...Thats nice to know.
I use all those Lithium-ion battery on my electric Boat use 12 pcs 4.2 Volts 1400MAH in 2S6P configuration.....use 3 pcs lithium-ion on Transmitter.
here is the link for my electric Boat.

I am waiting for the LIPOLY BATTERY, may be after 2 years, it will soon be available at surplus store here......Like to use Lipoly battery as my Starter Battery, so that it will be more compact and light.
even my GLOW IGNITER BATTERY is lithium-ION 4 pcs in parallel, I just use a linear Voltage Regulator (LM396)to drop the 4.2 Volts to 1.25 Volts......I like to use Lithium-ion cause it has a very low self dis-charge, I only charge the Igniter Battery every 6 months.

Hi, ellion
Mechanical speed regulator ... you're joking, I hope.
If you need a real 40 A, PWM 3000 Hz, linear power curve and fail-safe at power-on ...with a 16F628 do not hesitate.
Available with opto-couplers or ... fiber optics coupler ( highest parasitic immunity !!! )
The Double regulator ( differential coupling on the "ailerons" channel included !!!) also exists with a 16F876

Alain,
Yes, its Mechanical Speed controler....I seldomly use it....I have a Reversible Futaba Speed controller use on my RC car, When I play with my Speed Boat I seldomly use a mid-throttle, I alway use a full speed.
Here is my home-made speed controller build in 1989, during those time pic is not so popular, I use IRF 530 mosfet, the mosfet is really expensive, have to make a voltage trippler to make sure the mosfet is fully turn-on, the Motor drive circuit is optically-isolated with the ESC circuit......with today technology you can build a much smaller ESC.
