Anyone have any idea why Team Associated is selling out to Thunder
tiger? I have been a fan of Associated ever since the rc10, and it
doesnt make sence to me. It would seem to me that Thunder tiger should
sell out to Associated, givin associated's formitable racing team and
huge line of products. Sorry for venting, but this is just
frusterating me, cause I know things always change when companys merge;
things like quality. Anyone want to clarify why this is going on for
me? here's the link:

Thanks for your time all.

"Merger"; "joint venture"; " Ownership of Associated has not changed,
and its personnel remains unchanged"...

Where do you read that Associated is "selling out"?

The press release clearly states it is a merger, not a buy out. It also
clearly states the reasons behind the merger.

When two companies with identical products merge you lose products, I would
be upset if Thunder Tiger had a 1/10 electric stadium truck and thought my
T4 would be the last AE model. With these two they have very few products
in common and are already working together very closely. Saying Thunder
Tiger has poor quality and AE has good is a bit silly when you understand
some of the AE stuff is already made by Thunder Tiger.

I wish all my other RCs were as Thunder Tiger tough as my EB4!
There is usually more to a TTR vehicle than just screws and plastic like
some other brands!

I heard the AE owners are getting up there, and want to cash out. AE is going to be the R&D dept.

that they are merging. i can only see good things coming from this.

The RC10GT has no need for a complete redesign. The chassis continues
to place in world standings, and is THE most racer-friendly chassis in
existence.

A few simple updates would make the RC10GT the equal of every other ST
in production.

* Enclosed battery box
* A better way to route the battery leads
* Threaded, hard anodized shocks in the Team version
* A more secure rear arm mount
* Captured hinge pins (I'd even be happy with Traxxas
style threaded hinge pins)
* A 2-speed option (not stock)
* A body shell that fits when using a pull-start
* One piece rear body mounts

That's everything!

while it is true that the gt is very competetive and user friendly at the
same time, its getting to be old and needs a new cutting edge design. team
losi has been on the forefront with its adam drake edition xxx-nt and seems
to be doing way better than the gt in competitions although the gt is
holding its own. wether it be a completely new design or a few upgrades like
you mentioned, something needs to change on it to get it back to the
exciting cutting edge truck it used to be.

[Sorry to jump in so late on this one, but I just discovered this group
today]

Really think the AD2 is better than the GT? How about the results from the
2005 ROAR Fuel Off-Road Nationals?

In the top 14 places, GT's take 1st (TQ Jered Tebo), 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th, 9th
and 11th. AD2's take 5th, 7th (Adam Drake hisself!), 10th, 12th, 14th. And
guess what? All the Losi drivers used the AD2's quick change hubs to change
tires during the middle pit stop. The only GT driver with the quick change
hubs was Tebo. I suppose the 2nd through 4th place finishers were just
lucky, right?

Sooner or later, Losi may finally get it right. {;^)
