I needed to get a new PS for my LCD, and the old one was 12v 4a... so I got a 13v 4a at a local flea market cheap, and I wanted to make sure it works before I plug it in. Will I need to put a diode in it and step it down a volt, or should it be OK?

Is this 'like' a computer problem?
Sorry, if it doesn't have wings, I don't have a clue....

Hehe just an electronics/voltage question.

Pete,
You should be fine. Most elelctronics are designed to have a tolerance of at least 10%. as caps and resistors tend to vary from their labeled values with temperature and time.

I get it now... it was late last night.
Check polarity and AC/DC are matched. If the same, it'll be OK.

I agree with Gary. 13v should be fine. Just make sure it's DC if you need DC. My Sony laptop I believe uses AC input.

I'm going to need a rectifier anyway, I didn't notice it was AC :-( I knew somehting was wrong... the big A adaptors are usually not wall warts :-P Darn! Oh well, I guess the rectifier will add all the volts/amps I need, I'll give it a 5A job with some big caps. I dont even kno if it's worth it... it'; snot for me so if I mess up..... yeah :-P
