View Full Version : B-1B Lifting Body Effective Area?

Quick question, in regards lifting bodies...

(Specifically, the B-1B Lancer's LB.)

Just how much of the surface should one consider to be 'lifting', for the sake of wing-loading calculations? Would the yellow outline (see attached) be a reasonable estimation of actual lifting area?

You can probably consider the area of the motors as lifting also, filling in the gap between the fuselage and wings.
