I have a Elite 4 TX for my Hummingbird. It has the PS2 style connector on the back. Does anyone know the pinout of this cable to the serial connector? I would like to make a cable instead of having to spend $20 to buy one. Thanks

The only other transmitters that I know of that use that mini-DIN connector are the ones that come with the cheaper FP e-sky type helicopters often seen on e-bay. If this is the case then the TX may not use the standard channel configuration. If the TX is indeed based on the same protocol then the only interface I know of is the one made by RC-Electronics.Co.UK ( http://www.rc-electronics.co.uk/zhenhua.htm )
However if you download the windows Oscilloscope software from http://polly.phys.msu.su/~zeld/oscill.html and make up a simple lead you can check the pin outs on the back of the TX until you get a trace on the scope. If you don't want to try this then try contacting the dealer or Centrury for the information you want
However you can't simply cut the end off a USB cable and connect a wire to the pin out from the back of the TX. Most FMS interfaces use a PIC microcontroller to convert the signals from the TX into a data stream that is suitable for connecting to either the serial port or USB port depending on the PIC used. This is why the commercial interfaces cost £15 - £30.
I have a schematic for a PIC Serial interface, together with the HEX code to program a 12F675 PIC on my electronics web site (www.rc-electronics.net) for download that can be used with a standard ordered pulse proportional modulated signal from most transmitters. Hope this helps
