Ok. Any of you getting tired of pressing that cd drive button to keep on putting the cd in and out of the drive? There is a solution! All you have to do is copy the cd (open explore and highlight the cd, right click, copy, dont highlight individual files). Then, go into the realflight file in program files and paste it. Rename it with a full lowercase, no spaces or anything name. then open the fileread.ini file in the realflight folder in program files. Where it says whatever drive it uses to load the cd, retype your hard drive letter (mine is c:/ make sure you put it exactly like i had it a few words ago), then type programfiles, a dash, and then put whatever you named the copied cd file. So, mine looks like

c:/programfiles/realflight/realflightcd

as you can see, i named my file realflight cd. Then when you open it, it will ask for some cd to be put in, say cancel, and G2 should start up.

It may seem confusing, so if you need any help just PM me, and ill get you through it.

Notice: This did not screw up my computer. If you are computer illiterate, then i suggest you do not do this, for the sake of not screwing up your computer. Otherwise, feel free to PM me with any questions. Have fun NOT having to waste energy by putting in the disc. Thanks.

i have never had to put the cd in :confused: i don't know what i did wrong...or right! :D

Thats wierd. I guess i thought that you had to. Cuz i hear a lot of people like, "Oh this sims better cuz it runs without a cd". Oh well, it was worth the excitement. Lol.

if you install the addons disk 5 the game does not ask for the cd anymore. if you dont have addons 5 then you still need to use your cd.

Im having enough trouble installing add-ons 1. It installs great and everything, but the planes and fields dont show up. I think i need the update, but as almost everyone knows, the server is down. Any suggestions?

i had some trouble with it saying server down, but when i shut of my firewall, the server was "back up", it may work for you, because it worked for me. i had installed the updates before i installed the add-on.

i have add-ons disk 3 in it and thats it. its so wierd that i dont need to use the disk, but you do. i guess im lucky!

G2 asks for disks randomly.

I have all 5 addons, and periodically it will ask for a certain disk....but in no particular order or time.

g2 has not asked for my disk in 6months

I've NEVER had G2 ask for the disk. And if it ever starts, I'll merely copy a disk image to the hard drive so G2 "sees" the disk (virtually).

Do the web updates. One of them is the "never check for cd update"

The server has been down for a long, long time. I know the solution, i just cant get it. However, the installation fix did not do anything but run the installation.
