Im planning to construct Something' Extra by SIG. Goal is to have make it hover using the .46 FX.
Im going to make it light as possible using micro servos for both aileron and throttle (32oz of torque) and the rest are standard servos and a Nimh AAA rx pack.
Are those ingedrients good enough to make this plane hover?

Sounds like you should be able to with that setup. Lean towards a larger diameter lower pitch prop for more thrust at zero airspeed;)

Be careful with the choice of micro servos on aileron, I did that on a fun fly ship with 2 1/2" x 18" ailerons and the roll rate was awful slow, replaced with standard 3001s and WOW 2 rolls a sec.!
I put this down to the micros not having the umph to handle the ailerons.

HOw much ounces of torque is mininal for the ailerons per wing?
I know that in most cases a single standard servo (around 50oz) can handle both ailerons for the wings, so divide half for the other wing so its 25oz. So it makes me think that 25oz is ok.

Here is a link for a servo load calculator.

I picked up an SE used & don't have a manual to determine balance. Can anyone help. I tried using the first spar as the CG point but it flew like it was tail heavy. It has a big full sim wing! Thanks Bernie

An 11 x 6 APC prop works great for hovering with an OS 0.46 FX.
You might want to upgrade to a 5-cell rx pack.

But there is one that is better the APC 12.75x3.75. Try it on the hover type .46 models - you will never go back to anything else.

True, Mike, but that would really limit the top end speed for such a sweet plane. What's nice about the 11 x 6 is that you have "the best of two worlds", so to speak. The plane will hover, but also has enough rpm's to fly the other pattern stuff where you need a little more speed.
Really depends on what you want to do. Pylon (?????) might want a 10 x 5 prop, where with pure, pucker-power 3D the prop you suggested would be appropriate.
Plus, I don't think a 12 3/4" prop wouold fit the SE!!!
Just my 0.02 worth.

Yep it works that is what I have on mine. It does not leave much clearance, and the top end speed was fine.
Try it!!!! Trust me.....
