Im quite inexperienced in RC stuff, though I have built two Tamiya electric kit cars. I've never done anything in boating, but a bought a custom build wooden boat hull, and I'm trying to get and configure parts for it. Can anyone help me with suggestions on how to build it and all? here's some pictures:

its a little unclear on what you want. persuming u have no parts for it at all and just have the hull and body etc. and what is it you want it to do. and whatprice range we looking at.

Well I'm looking to get parts and all, but I'm pretty clueless as to how I'm going to put it all together (ie where to put what, how to set it up with everything else...) right now I'm not really concerned with pricing, I'm just trying to figure out what to do. I can tell somethings though, like it's designed for two rudders, and maybe for nitro, but I'm not sure about that, and right now, the plastic window part is the only "semi"-waterproof section of the hull (as far as where to put components.)

looking at the pics i would say you were right about it being designed for nitro. This doesn't mean you have to use it. As a lot of places are funny about using them on lakes due to polution and noise. The engine would go in where the two threaded rods stick out, This is the only reason i can see why to put a higher part on. It should be water cooled looking at it, Has this got any packing tube for which the prop would run through. or has it just got a hole in the bottom of the hull.
its definatly designed for a racing circuit, its got a stabiliser fin but only for particular turns.(hence only on one side).
i would also say that the fuel tank should go in front of the engine in the compartment in between the boyancy aids. This would have the weight all over the most boyant part. Hope this is off some help. A few more detailed pics of some parts would help.

In the fifth picture you can see a pipe that runs diagonally to the bottom, which is the hole you see on the bottom, but what you said about most lake sim sure is definitely true in my area, which I never realized before.

Ok, it turns out it's a Dumas Quickie 40, and Dumas says it "can be powered by a 7.5cc size inboard or 3.5cc outboard marine engine."

So I figure this (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBY94&P=7) should work?
