I am waiting for decent weather to do some flight testing using the Eagle Trees V2 datalogger.

My objective is to improve power-train selection methods for electric-powered scale models; to corelate flight performance with easily-made ground-run measurements.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
For example. We know the model's wing loading: what should the pitch-speed be on ground-test? [Might be not quite that simple]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each flight will follow a sequence of "steady phases" designed to produce a lot of usable data in a few minutes of flight time.

Phases will include ; fast and slow climbs, f&s level flight and f&s glides. Phases will be of long-enough duration to establish steady conditions [about 10 seconds each].

Power-off stall will be checked.

Seems really interesting. I“m looking forward to see your data.

A programable "clever" timer (or "fuel" indicator) in our radios, able to calculate the "remaining energy level" for each model according to

A) pre-flight programmable input parameters
-battery capacity
-static current drain x Corrective factor (obtained you your kind of tests) -versus- throtle position

B) in-flight throtle use

might one day be a useful reality.

Cheers, Joćo :)
