Looking to get back in again & a friend steered me to these 2 sailplanes-Tragi 705 & Artemis. Pricey but hear craftmanship flawless.
Anyone have any input pro & con. Want something also good in light lift as I might be a "fair weather flyer". Don't want a lead sled.
Thanx

The Artemis is a good plane. Several members of our club have them, SLNT. I fly mine with 6oz of ballast in light lift and load it up to 16 in strong. It really likes the ballast even on light days. Our last contest winds were 18 gusting to 24. Two Artemis took 1st and 2nd place that day. The price is cheap for what you get.

I fly Tragi 702's in F3b.
Great planes, beautifully made, flawless, easy to fly, forgiving, able to carry large loads quickly.....yada, yada

If you're not going to get into F3b, the Artemis is the one. One of my teammates has had one for a long time for TD/F3j work and has never had anything but praise for them[he flies Tragi's for F3b]. I like the choices available in the Artemis, would probably get one if I flew other than F3b.

BTW, F3b planes have to be excellent soaring macines. The 10 minute duration task at an event here in the US would typically be flown first thing in the AM, between 8 and 10, maybe again in the evening. The Tragi's and just about any other F3b plane will do the 10 minutes even after the sun has set. We like to save the thermals for the distance and speed tasks.

F3b planes tend to have more carbon in them, STRENGTH is needed for whipping those high loads into tremendous zoom launches that carry and "snapping" around those vicious high speed turns.

gmony: I normally fly an Icon, but am building a Tragi 705X right now. In a few weeks, I ought to have some feedback for you as to how theycompare. What others are saying about the quality is true. Tragi quality is really phenomenal, but you pay for it.

I have not seen an Artemis first hand, but I understand it is a very well thought out plane and a very underrated performer. Value certainly seems outstanding.

Artemis is your best value I have had mine for several years sweet flying and landing. if it's a landing contest this is my choice. try F3X.com to see if Tom has any in stock.

Thanx all for your input. I forgot to ask 1 more question. Artemis uses 7035 airfoil & wondering if that is an airfoil that takes to camber & reflex.
Thanx

I believe it is the 35. Yes you can use camber and reflex though I seldom use either with this plane. It is a bit faster thermaling than you may be used to, without camber, yet it works light lift well. The worst contest conditions I flew it in, winds 21 gusting 28to 32, I did not use reflex.
