I bought an old Thermal Eagle on eBay. It has the 7037 airfoil. This will be my first full-house ship. The AUW is 70 oz when balanced 5" behind LE (50% of root chord. It should take about 2.5 oz in the nose to bring the CG forward 1/2".

Does anyone know the recommended starting point for the CG and/or control throws?

Thanks for any help with this.

I have a Thermal Eagle with RG 15 airfoil. The CG on the plans is 5 1/8 inch ahead of the wing trailing edge. The recommended surface throws are: Ailerons: 3/4 up, 3/8 down. 3/8 down for launch. Elevator: 3/8 up, 1/2 down, 3/8 down with full flap Rudder: 1-1/4 right and left, 1" with full aileron. Flaps: 90 degrees for landing. 1" down for launch. Camber: 3/32 down with full up elevator. Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the info. I just checked the tow hook position and it is 4.75 inches behind the LE. Given the 10.0 inch chord. it sounds like the CG is almost directly above the hook.

Ollie:

Thanks for the link. I had read that article in the past and found it very useful for trimming my planes. My big concern here was starting out with divergent stability on a new plane, especially my first full house.

I hope to see you again at WC 2005. I plan to bring a new KA8 and Blanik L-13, so I better figure out full-house soon!
