I know I have read where you can use part from a R/C tank to control a hovercraft, but I have lost the thread. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Richard

Essentially you would use the two channels to run a motor on either side of the hovercraft.
Running both forward to go straight, and either one of the motors alone, or in opposition to make turns.
Instead of running tank tracks you run small airplane propellers.
A third motor running constantly would provide your lift.

Thanks -- that makes sense.

the Fuhai rtr toy hovercraft I have seen, selling for less that 20 quid, uses exactly the same principle, though performance wise, its all buzzie and no shovie, but the system does work well. the fuhai just needs more power, but for 20 quid, its just a toy and not worth the mess

£20.00 I bought two of the little blighters on ebay without transmitters for £0.99 ripped the guts out of one fitted a rudder and two channel receiver plus two servo's, one to operate the rudder the other to operate a twin pole switch for forward or reverse, popped in a faster motor to give it more lift, with no friction it goes all over the place so I fitted a flip up rudder that drops down when on water that makes it a bit more controllable next thing is to fit a speed controller to slow it down and make it more controllable on land so back to Ebay and see what's on offer. The second one is still as bought so I might see if I can find out what frequency the receiver is and modify a transmitter from a tank that is just sitting there on the shelf doing nothing :)
