Any experience with 2004 Graupner Rhode Island Offshore Race Boat sold by Hobby-Lobby?

Hi Frank,
For its size it's rather underpowered with an 600 motor on 6 cells, a 700bb and 12-14 cells is more like it.
As it's an ABS hull, the steps will act more as a brake due to extra drag, because they need to have sharp trailing edges, which is impossible due to the vacuum molding process.
It's a slow, rather expensive toy.
Look at www.offshoreelectrics for some boats that will kick ass for their money!
Regards, Jan.

Received Rhode Island Race Boat. Exchanged Tamiya connectors for Sermos.
Enlarged stuffing box opening to realign motor/shaft. Sealed with silicon.
Runs great. Exceeds other boats in price range. Excellent buy.

Good to hear you're happy with the boat!
Got some pictures, running it?
Run it till you want more speed and put in a direct drive 700 SS1
Make sure to reinforce the hull where the motor will sit.
Regards, Jan
