I know Im not the only one that thinks the Ultrafly Hawk is a great model. I just though it might be neat to see how everyone has painted them up.
My hawk I thought didnt look aggressive enough with just the shark mouth on it. So I added some home built 30mm gun pods to it. It should look pretty cool on some high speed straffing runs :D The real reason is to keep the wing from getting beat up on those less than perfect landings in the thick brush. :p

Oh Man.... thats very cool!
What in the world did you make them out of??
Being it's a pusher and will have tons of thrust <most likely> I guess it's easier to get away with. I have a EDF Model <L-39 wanna-bee> I really wanted to put tip tanks on but I figured the drag would just kill me.
That looks great... you need a build thread on those pods!!

If enough people show intrest I can do a build thread. Otherwise I will PM you in a few days on a quick how to. Its easy but a little time consuming. I will fly it today and see how she does. Thanks for the compliments :)

Ok Ok I will make another gun pod for a build thread. I flew it with the pod on Sunday and it changed the way this airplane more than I had anticipated.
Firstly if you decide to do this you must concider the following
1. This jet doesnt hold its kenetic energy nearly as well as it did before
2. Power management is key to a successful flight especially when coming out of a turn or any low speed maneuver.
3. You must monitor the aircrafts top speed when you are flying, I saw the wings flex for the first time coming out of a high speed dive for a straffing run.
The things that I did right are
1. Built them very light and strong
2. Made sure that they were streamlined
3. Made sure that the wing was strong by using the proper glue for the project.
This thing looks AWESOME on high speed gun runs
It really adds to the planes overall look in the air. An spectator commented on what a good job I did on my Harrier LOL It no longer looks like a jet trainer thats for sure.
Things that I did wrong.
1. Built them too big in diameter. I will shoot for a skinnyer cross section for the build thread
I will post a build thread on the pusher jet forum, but in the meantime go ahead and post your hawk pictures. ;)

Hi,
here's mine. Finished as per kit colours but with carefully applied Acrylics - still burn't the foam a little in one or two spots.
I junked the Ultrafly brushless '24', just not enough go.
Replaced with a Mega AC n 16/15/4 , and Jeti Advance 30.
It goes like a scalded cat now!!!
Flying at Sandown this coming weekend. Feel free to come over for a look see on the CML stand and a chat.
cheers

There is nothing as bad ass as a jet with pods on a low high speed pass. "INCOMING!"

How about unusual Hawk schemes.
I found this one, looks a little weird maybe, but definitely a change from the Red Arrows etc?
Not my personal taste, well, not sure...
What do you guys think?

Hi,
It goes like a scalded cat now!!!
Julian
Yeah right! some pillock knocked our brolly over that was protecting the models from the rain- damaged the elevator servo on my Hawk. SO first launch on Sunday, the model sticks it's nose in the air - no down elevator!
I looked a right muffin, staggering about, trying to get control of it. Then the grass grabbed it and ripped it in half!
Good old Sandown!!!

Madguns,
I’m getting my first ‘foamy’ plane and want to attempt a paint job especially after seeing your great plane.
My question how? Please give me some tips on how to do it. Do I need to prime it first? What is the best type of paint? Do you finish with a sealer?
As you can see I’m a total noob at this but am willing to learn.

Yep Sandown got me too:)
some pillock in our slot was doing 3d in front of us and i came along fast and .low and cut his sukhoi in half:) all i saw was confetti fo balsa and my fizza carried on and i glided it in to a perfect landing with the motor hanging off the nose:)
Then i promptly landed on my arse by slipping on the bloody runway lol
