2 ailerons on “Y” connector? What am I doing wrong.

With the ‘Y” connected to the #1 channel <aileron> and both servos plugged into the “Y” I get nothing. They will work 1 at a time though, meaning if I disconnect 1 servo the other operates normally.

Tried to plug the connector into other channels and I had similar results. So other then extending the servo wires and running them on channel 1 and 5 what have I done wrong? Did I have to select elevons or the likes in the setup mode??

They should work with the Y-harness. First make sure you're properly connecting both servos (one is not plugged with the connector reversed). Second make sure that the Y-harness is properly assembled - black wire to black wire, red wire to red wire and white/yellow wire to white/yellow wire.
