Acording to the latest Model Aviation (Sorry Steve -- the AMA rag), Hilldale NJ is the ECL capital of the world.
Did anybody else know this?
The've gotten a S400 trainer kit, which uses a 2.2 AH 12v battery they hang on their belt.
Wonder where they're at with speed controls?
I plan to e-mail the guy who is listed as the club's contact; doubt he's ever heard of the E-Zone.

Never heard of them but it would be interesting to see what they're doing. I thought the Black Sheep Squadron in California were in the forefront. I wonder if they are still doing anything with their power down lines trainer ?
But by an odd co-incidence the UK magazine Model Flyer claims to have an article on, of all things, "Indoor Electric Control Line" in next month's edition. Due out 11th April, I can hardly wait.
It's always possible that things are starting to move :).

Steve if you send me an e-mail, I'll reply (on Monday) with a scanned copy of the article; a real copy is not likely to make it to the UK for sometime, if ever.

Hey Guys:
I'm the one that designed that P.E.T. trainer. That's me in the Hawaian shirt!
Send me a P.M. for more info.

Thanks for the response Dr.E!
The P.E.T. looks very nice.
What can you tell us about the conversion of the Sig Akromaster?
Does it use "power down the lines" too?
Here are two previous ECL postings that speak to "non-power down the lines" possibilities.
The first is a small relay based circuit that when set with a fixed resistor or trimmer pot will cut-off the motor. Kind of like running out of fuel. Using a pot would allow the power set-up to be adjusted so that last few laps still have descent perfomance; rather than just hanging around on the prop.

This next posting has a link to Steve's schematics for a "servo tester" that can be mounted in a control handle and used with a typical RC speed control. This would give you full throttle control! Would let you fly alone, ECL Carrier, etc.

PM would allow some to get info; but if you don't mind, please post some stuff in this forum so we can get some more ECL folks going by spreading the word.
Many thanks,
Jim

Th Akromaster proved to be a viable electric conversion. I wanted it to be still preaty cheap so I used a geared s400 system which made it fly well but needs more power. The lightest power source I have found is the velkom 202214 27 neodinium s400 motor on 8 cells and a 2:1 gear. Th erelay you have should make it work even better.
I'm in the process of doing some ww2 epp sloper conversions to ECL on a mag mahem 2:1 master airscrew box on 8 1300's. There is a lower density epp (1.3 lb) that can be used instead of the 1.8 lb stuff. This should be the next avanced trainer.
The construction article on the P.E.T. should be coming out soon. Aerocraft has future plans to market it if there is interest (call Craig and ask him)
