View Full Version : Mini RC Helicopter Hovers 50 Feet

I saw a very cool Mini RC Helicopter that takes only 1 minute to
charge, and can hover over 50 feet in the air.

Our HumbleBee R/C Helicopter remote-controlled electric helicopter
features an on-board computer chip that manages its flight
characteristics. This revolutionary Remote Control Helicopter has been
engineered to make flying easy enough for kids of all ages. The key is
a new flight system called "Proportional Control", which uses a basic
trigger function to regulate altitude and speed.

By squeezing the trigger, power circulates to the rotor making the
helicopter hover. More pressure and the R/C Helicopter climbs higher
into the air, less pressure, less height and speed. With the simplified
controls, pilots are now able to make the helicopter soar up to heights
of over 50 feet and distances of 300 feet.

The HumbleBee R/C Helicopter uses a quick charge power system,
featuring a landing pad appearance, and a fuelling hose nozzle, which
adds a sense of reality to the charging process. Simply attach the hose
to the Helicopter's charging nozzle, wait for the red charging light to
stop blinking and the green light to turn on and then commence
countdown for take off.

Launching the helicopter can be as easy as letting it swirl into the
air from your hand or for trained pilots, it lifts straight off the
launch pad which doubles as a charger.

The durable body construction enables the helicopter to recover from
potentially destructive crashes and return to the sky within minutes.

Except that it has no pitch/yaw control, let alone anything else resembling
control.

I know of an easier way to get it 50 feet in the air and it'd probably be
more stable as well ;-)

Not such a new idea............The Old fixed pitch R/C Heli's used this
method years ago long before Collective pitch became common place.

Check back to Days of Micro Mold Lark (Late 70's/Early 80's) and even MFA'S
last Machine the Sport 500 which was fixed pitch as standard unless you
upgraded with the Collective Pitch Head......(I still have one of those)

Not so. The old fixed pitch heli's were controllable and fun AND they would
go where you wanted them too, not just up and down.

Yes Beav, that is exactly what I meant, Both u & I know that because we have
flown these machines... I suppose with the toys available today they will
never know the true delights of the early fixed pitched machines..but I was
still correct though in saying fixed piched machines needed more throttle
for a higher hover...once they were flying normal circuits then
yes...different kettle of fish to the plastic toys of today in that those
early helicopters could actually (and indeed still do) fly full circuits
rather than just up and down.

I was zero-ing in on the fact that these toys (if they're even that!) only
have height control Mark, (well sort of:-) and didn't want any newbie to
think that the old fixed pitchers only had the same level of control as
these toys. What these things REALLY are is nothing more than a slight
development of the old "string and spring" idea, designed to amuse 3 year
olds and those things only cost pennies, not dollars. (or quids)
