I've been flying small electrics which easy fit in my car. I just purchased a glow plane Telemaster and it won't fit in my small bed truck since I have a tool box mount up by the cab. :(

I have seen a PVC pipe transport that a modeler built which allows him to store the plane as well as easily carry it with a handle from the truck to the field. I would like to build one and I could then strap it down in the truck bed even with the tailgate down.

Has anyone built something similar and could provide some photos for ideas?

do a google on Aviation Modeller International, there was a plan feature of a fun-fly called 'Groin Strain', and the designer made a cradle like that.

Here is a mediocre picture of the pvc pipe. You can use a wider diameter pipe with the right sized end caps. I mounted it with clamps from electrical supply store. With my method you need 2 large diameter clamps and 2 small diamter clamps. The small dia has to match your horizontal cross bars and the large diameter matches your pvc pipe diam.

hope this helps,
