Guys

Im posting this as a seperate topic so hopefully more readers can help

I want to replace the 3/8" wide X 1/2" tall aluminum plate / plywood sandwich in my 3 meter Bird of Time with a solid steel 1/4" rod.

Will the rod be strong enough ? I really need to find out ASAP The ARF supplied joiner bow is warped......

Thanks again for the help everyone....

An 11/32" or larger diameter would be nicer.
1/4" didn't even do well on a 100" span plane.

I would say the 1/4'' rod would not be stiff enough to prevent excess flexing. I would prefer a 3/8 x 1/2 inch set of light weight metal plates rather than a 1/4'' rod.

You can un-warp the one you have.... It will still be stronger than the joiner boxes.... That's what breaks on these...
