Hey Guys,
As a newbiw to RC planes, I am about to buy my first nitro powered plane (Sig Kadet Senior) and want to hear your thoughts on a good radio to get. I want to get something good to allow for future growth and expansion. I see myself with only 2-3 planes MAX at any given time so I don't need anythingmore than that. Also, is it worth getting a 6 channel radio if the plane will only use 4? Again, looking towards growth here. Thoughts?

Thanks All,
Chris

Yeah, definitely get a 6 channel(at least) with model memories. That will cover your "expansion" for a while.

Check out each manufacturers 6 or 7 channels to see which suits your fancy(and budget).Spending more now may save $ in the long run.

Chris, you should definitely get a radio that is more than your current needs.

I, and several others that fly in South Charlotte, use the Hitec Eclipse 7 with the Spectra module. It has 7 memories and 7 channels of control. It also has settings for 'AERO, GLYDERS, AND HELI'S. It runs $ 218 at many places in the back of airplane mags.

I seems like many of us eventually get a Heli, but the simplier Heli's fly with AERO settings.

The Spectra module allows you to set any 72Mhz channel without buying transmitter crystals for each receiver crystal used.

I am sure that others will recommend other brands and models, but I like the Hitec.

I just bought a Hitec Flash 5, a bit less function, on E-Bay for $ 89 with 4 servos, 7 channel receiver, and receiver battery. Quite a savings !!!!!! It is for my grandson.

There are good deals on E-Bay if you know what you want and know prices.
