View Full Version : Trinity spyder

Just finished breaking in my spyder. Friend has savage 25 with monster
torque. Savage pops wheelies right off the starting line. Can I tune my 427
engine to do the same ?
Also radio that came with spyder sucks. Lots of interference and loss of
control. Did instal failsafe.
I think this truck is a big LEMON !!!

I've read lots of posts moaning about quality on the mini as well. I've had
a pile of Trinity stuff over the years (I just don't learn :-) and with the
exception of their motors, I think their quality control is questionable,
you can be lucky or unlucky.
In your case, however, the interference may be nothing to do with the truck.
It could be the area you run or any of a squillion other things. A couple of
real simple things to try would be to change to a diff frequency, and also
to move the received around in the car - even switching the receiver around
90 or 180 degrees can make a difference.

FWIW, a stock savage doesn't pop wheelies. It was designed to keep the
power to all four wheels. Wheelies on a monster truck are useless.

Thanks Mike for your reply. I will be installing a 75 megahertz
radio/receiver next week. I live in a big city and the truck is on the cb
band and there is a lot of high power cbrs' still around.
Besides the radio problem does anyone have this truck ?
If so how is your tourqe. do you pop wheelies ?

For what its worth this Savage DOES pop wheelies !!!!
I just seen it with my own eyes as well as 4 othere people. My friend says
it stock and just tuned real good.
Its WAY faster than my nitro spyder !!!
It needs a wheelie bar cause it keeps fliping on its back.
I will video this truck if you need more proof.

the 27mHz band is *adjacent to* the CB band but is not equivalent to it.
The keydown CB'ers in your area may be running (illegal) amps which can
interfere in at least two ways:
* the raw amount of power can overload the RX filters
* the linear amps that the CB'ers use are sloppy and tend to
"splatter" interference onto other frequencies.

Ha, Wrong!
A stock Savage will pop wheelies I know this to be tru because I have a stock 25
and so does most the guys on my block! *useless* maybe popping a wheelie is
useless in a race but the extra power is awesome and if your really good you can
hold that wheelie for several second and your friends go nutz at which is a
great way to show-off!

Out of the box setup as stock it ain't supposed to pop wheelies.
Now, I can take the slipper clutch and tighten it down so there's no
slip at all and of course it will wheelie. Take that same setup on a
clay track and do a 4 foot jump....you'll destroy your tranny bu the end
of the day.

The 27 mhz band IS on the citizens band. My radios crystal is 26.995 cbrs'
call this channel 3a because its a blank spot between 3 and 4. Theres a few
more blank spots such as 7a 27.045 11a 27.095 and a few more. These are holes
left over as the cb band grew from 26.965 to 27.405. And yes there are lots
of cb amps out there, I still have my old tube amp from my base station and
its VERY sloppy.
