View Full Version : A question for any "jetset44" park jet fliers using the Himax 2025...

If you are using this motor, are you satisfied with its performance on these park jets? What prop, gearbox and battery are you using? How heavy is your AUW? Would you recommend using the Himaxx 2025 or would you go with a lighter one?
I would greatly appreciate your input!!

I haven't tried the Himax 2025 series yet, but I'm a huge fan of the Himax 2015-4100 in my park jets. It provides PLENTY of power for a lightly-built park jet (under 20 oz), with unlimited vertical and good top speed (50 mph). I simply don't need more power than that for the way I like to fly.
But another thing to consider is balance. All of the park jets tend to be tail heavy, so you need to be very careful about how much weight you add to the aft end. The 2015 weighs 2.2 oz compared to the 2025's 2.8 oz, which definitely helps there. But of course the higher amp draw of the 2025 generally requires a larger and heavier battery, which helps solve the balance problem--at the expense of an overall higher weight airplane!
Bottom line is I always recommend using the smallest motor/battery you can get away with, since it provides the lightest and most manueverable airplane. And the Himax 2015 fills that bill well with an under 20 oz park jet. But if you're a real power monger and are willing to sacrifice some maneuverability for higher speed, maybe the 2025 is your motor!

Has anyone successfuly flown one of the parkjets on a direct-drive BL 400?

I'm flying the F15 with the Himax 2025/5300. 5.33 gear and APC 8x6 Props.
Flys pretty good... although I'm sure the APC 8x8 will give me more speed.
Able to go vertical for about 6-7 seconds, speed is good.
On the F18, the speed is a little faster (probably due to the sleeker design of the jet).

I am getting close to finishing my F-18. I am going to use a Razor 2500 in a cobri gear box at about 4:1 gear and a 9x9 prop. Just put it all on the scale with the largest battery I would run and it is right at 20 oz before paint. 20 oz's and around 200 watts should be a lot of fun. I know this did not answer your question, just thought I wuold share.

sounds like he's had "pretty good" luck with the Himax-2025-5300, it's pretty heavy though. I thought that the 5300 kv on this motor meant that it was better for smaller direct drive props (6 and under) or ducted fan apps.
His comments say "flys pretty good" not great. With the 2015-4100 and a light build you can go vertical until its a speck...if you dare do that...hehe

I fly Steve's F18 with a Himax 2025-5300, 6.6:1 ratio, APC 9075E off a 3S 2100 Prolite. About 210 watts...lots of thrust and great speed.

I run a similiar setup. I get about 180w from mine. Unlimited vertical on my F-18, it's OK in the speed department. I'm running an 11x7 GWS HD.
