Anyone concerned about the excessive noise these nitro boats-weedeater boats make???
Is anyone willing to put on a muffler or quiet pipe?
A ruling was tried in IMPBA about 10 years ago, it was suggested.
Legally unenforcable. Hence lack of participation by the boaters, common complaint-----add a muffling device, lose power. Which is not necceasarily so if you set your engine up right.....
So what has happened in those 10 years since the ruling was tried?????? Just look at this board----the least active site of all the R/C boards--why????? Could it be that all those boaters are no longer because they wouldn't accept a noise reduction or "loss"of power, instead preferred to lose their pond? Or have they switched to a noiseless varity of boat racing--fast electrics, in order to save their pond?
This loss of water across the country is hurting the entire boating industry. Ponds are being lost at an alarming rate, the main issue is always noise. Look what happened to IMPBA's Internat race, it was shut down because of a noise complaint.
Our district is trouble, the loss of water!!! At one point there was 7-10 ponds for NY and Ontario Canada where Inter-club racing was run, we are down to 2 maybe!!! And you know something we have 100's of ponds that are perfect for racing, how ironic.
When there is no place to run, people change hobbies!!!!
Too many people in the areas of a pond don't like the noise of 10 (gas-weedeaters) what sound like 10 chainsaws echoing away in the woods, or the high pitch of the nitro engines, when they come home after work or on a Sunday when they just want to relax and listen to the birds in their backyards........
I got back into RC boats on a smaller scale the 16.-18 pull starts with the car pipes, which are actually pretty quiet, after about an 7 year lapse (tried other hobbies). A group of us are making a concentrated effort to run quieter boats with muffled pipes but, there are still some who are resisting even tho they know the extreme hardship we are having finding water to run. If something doesn't happen to change their minds into muffling, guess we won't have permission to run anywhere.....and who will buy your $1000.00 race boat, when theres no place to run? Makes a nice mantle piece doesn't it.
