Hello,

i am going to purchase a Q500 racer. But didn't found one which corresponds my expectations. Maybe there are some experienced Q500 racers here, having an advice for an newbe - me. (Newbe to Q500, not to Speedmodels).

I am searching a Q500 racer which does have :

-V-Tail
-completly on the inside servo and linkings (elevator AND aileron) one single aileron servo
-GFK for trunk recommend (smooth shape, instead of tradional balsa angularly ;))

The wing itself isnn't the critical thing, i can build a new one by myself. So the trunk V-tail is the intresting part for me and i am looking for.

Which trunk is one be known good / fast ? Contact adress ?

Many THNX in advance !

Mario

Hi,
You are in electric airplane section. Look http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Pylon_Universe_%2D_RC_Pylon_Racing/forumid_323/tt.htm for Q500 information. You will find out that the wing is critical part as well as fuse and tail.

Predator 500...doesnt have the elevator linkages inside but has everything else you listed...just so you know if you want something with all internal linkages youre going to have to spend BIG $$$. Nearly everything out there has the elevator linkages sticking out about 3-4 inches like the Predator...mine's doing about 130 right now with a TT46 pro. Upgrading to BSE 50 in the summer...should hit 170 or so. But Antti is right, this is an electric section. ;)

We are going to finally get a pylon forum in the fuel section. When it turns up, I'll transfer this topic. :D

Meanwhile, there are plenty of Q500 models available with the specifications you want.

All Q500's have basically square fuselages (trunks) because that's how it's specified in the airframe rules. Fuselages have little effect on the performance because they're basically all the same. Choose any one. All the Q500's I've had have enclosed linkages.

Dave would you consider this enclosed linkages? If not can you show me/refer me to some that do? I'm satisfied with the speed...just want every little bit I can get (as usual). Glad to hear we'll be getting a nitro pylon section too. :)

No. They're well and truly in the breeze.

Look at the VMax II for example. The torque rods on the elevators extend down into the fuselage and there is a cap on the fuselage end to cover them up. Similar thing on the Neme Q.

Don't have any pictures I'm afraid.

I have a mold for a fiberglass Q500 fuselage designed for a V-tail with totally enclosed linkage. It's been a while since I made one, but I could be persuaded to make more if there is interest. I also have two versions of a standard tail with the fin and rudder built into the fuselage. They are very similar except for length. One version is very short. Again, if there is interest, I can give more details and discuss costs.
