I'm easing back into RC after an absence of 12 years (now retired).

First I'm refurbishing models, motors, batteries, servos etc. - trainer model first. It has a sheet plastic windscreen which I made from Acetate sheet stuck with bals cement. It is broken, having become brittle so I'm trying to replace it; I find acetatae sheet impossible to get now and I' being offered alternatives (at exorbitant prices I might add. The laternatives seem to be PS, polycarbonate or PVC. Of these PS and PVC are out due glow fuel susceptibility.

So, assuming I use polycarbonate sheet what adhesive can I use? Do I need to scuff the surface prior to gluing?

If I used polyester sheet instead then what would be the right adhesive?

Welcome to RCGroups, NZVIP! :)

I assume that you will be working on IC models? I'll move this over to the Fuel Beginners area.

can you use a soda bottle? like 2 liter...just heat it up and bend it to fit your plane/shape you need. can dye it too in most cases, if not use spraypaint that bonds with plastic. Scuff off any residue of the cement you used prior...sandpaper/dremel tool. It will help the new stuff grab the wood better...get in all the striations of the wood. You can also use 2 part epoxy instead of cement with plastic. Hope this helps.

Of these PS and PVC are out due glow fuel susceptibility.
 This is the first time I read or hear about PVC being susceptible to glow fuel. As long as I know the canadian gutter pipe I'm using for my SPADs is made of PVC and it is glow fuel resistant.
Or maybe I'm wrong and the pipe material is not PVC?
