I've just recently gotten back into RC after a few years absence, and have a desire to fly a model I've had since I was a kid. I believe this is a Wallis Autogyro? It was purchased used by my brother in England back in the eighties, but I never flew it. Now that I'm getting back into RC I'm think it might be time to outfit this model and give it a try.
My question is where to go from here? I've never flown an autogyro, only fixed wing aircraft and the Hirobo XRB rotory wing model shown as a scale comparison. Are there flight simulators that cover autogyros?
I'm sure I'll need spare parts for this model eventually, any sources where I should look? Is the manufacture still in business, and are they still making this model? I'll need to put servos and typical radio gear in this model, but does it also need stuff like peizo gyro, pilot assist etc?
Thanks in advance to all who respond.

Micro-Mold in UK who produced the Wallis kit went under many years ago so I don't think any spares are available unless you were to get lucky. I have the Micro-Mold Wallis in my basement unflown by me. Several people have been successful flying this design including Don Lowe, past AMA Pres. and a well known US model Helicopter columnist whos name escapes me at the moment. Attached is a URL for one source of information: http://www.iroquois.free-online.co.uk/wallis.htm
I will hunt around for more info. Yep, they can be made to fly as evidenced by the image attached which the pilot/ owner (Phil Wyld) sent me a few years back!
PS: found or remembered the name of the person above as it was Larry Jolly, who wrote the RC Helicopter column for Model Aviation. The particular Wallis Autogyro articles written by Jolly were in the January and May 1987 issues of Model Aviation. He describes flying one successfully and fixes to make it fly.

Are there any drawings/plans/kits out there of a "walis" type autogyro? I would love to beg/borrow or (heavens forbid) buy to make one. I am thinking small electric brushless with LiPo for power.
Your assistance is appreciated.
Mark.

Hi,
I have the construction booklet and various articles on the original and updated bits. Would you like copies? Bill England.
Ours, circa 1992 was not too successful.

Mark, have you been following the G3PO electric gyro development pages by Mickey Nowell here and on RCUniverse? He has developed both an electric tractor style and a pusher style (ie: Wallis Type) model gyro in the last few months. He has supplied all the design detail to make a highly successful miniature electric gyro.

FLICKA5; Yes I have downloaded the plans and am in the process of studying them. Hopefully I will be able to duplicate the results.
Thanks for the note though.

Dear Raptorlp
Could you give me some idea how big the tailplane and fin and rudder are
on the Wallis please. I am going to try and make one from the mechanics of my Lark Heli
which was made by Micro Mould. Oh and the length of the fus tube which all of these
things are bolted to.
Regards Phil G.
