Glider Question

I'm in the market for a glider kit and have it narrowed down between the Majestic by Laser Arts and the Olympic II sold by Sky-Bench. Anyone flying either of these gliders that can comment on the build and flying characteristic's. I've read several places that the Oly II is a good sailplane but I have not found much on the Majestic. As far as looks go I like the look of the Majestic much better.

Everyone has a favorite but the OLY is an excellent sailplane for learning, fun, thermaling, it will be around for years to come. Pretty hard to beat excellence. Easy to build and will be with you year after year providing you dont yank the wings off. Theres a lot of bang for the buck with the OLY II. Im building one for my grandson as we speak. It will be his first. Regards Dewey

Hi MonkeyBone. I'm in the middle of building a Skybench Oly II now. Although this is my 4th sailplane, I took a rather long 20 year hiatus before starting the new Oly II, so I'm back to the novice category. In the interum, my daughter was born, and she's off to college this year; you get the picture. I asked around before selecting the Oly II, and it received very high ratings from many sources as an excellent flyer and beginner's plane.

I have been including some photos of the build in another thread, "Sailplane Talk," "How does Oly I Compare to Oly II." I would be happy to share notes and photos. Also if there is enough interest, we could begin a new build thread for the Oly II.

:D :D Go with Oly II from SkyBench - Ray's Kits are 1st notch and the Oly II will fly like a dream.....both versions.....by the way......

Been flying an Oly II since 77-78, still fly it some. I flew it at the Mid-South last year,
didn't wont to get my new AVA wet.
Its a keeper and a great flyer .

I have both. I made some mods when I built the Majestic. (More dihedral, C/F rods-less plywood in the tail) If you want a nostalgia legal plane, get the Oly II. If you want the better plane/kit, get the Majestic.
