hm. i think its a bit suspecious that there is a little cut in the movie just after takeoff. I saw this movie some days ago on runryder. i think its a fake until someone can prove to me its not.

RUSSERN: The good part is we don't have to prove it to you... There were plenty of people there when it was being filmed. If you go to RCUNIVERSE and read their post and replys the people watching verify it. The cuts in the movie are there because it was more then one flight that was taped that day. LOL How exactly would you like it verified. This yr he will be at a few events and he will be seen. Besides... When I posted it it was only to show how good he flies. There is nothing at stake and no reason to make a fake... I'm not even related... Just excited to see one of our young club members doing so well...

You sound envious of Kyle, instead of being the doubter, just be proud of the kid.

I'll ask Ray if he wants to respond here.

Hi guys,
I'm not sure that I even knew this forum existed! Thanks to Jeff and Lee for bringing it to my attention.
Lee Bull, you are a great friend! Thanks for all of the support.
Kyle and I appreciate the encouragement from all you. For the doubters, we take that as a compliment!
The video is authentic and as Lee said is compilation of three flights on the same day. My 9 year old son Kyle did all of the flying. It was his first time out in a couple of months due to the weather. The only piece that was dubbed in is the shots with the camera being being pointed at Kyle while he was supposedly flying. He really was not flying and in fact had just landed. Our video guy (David Playfair) added the pilot clips for effect. David does tremendous video work and we want to thank him for this video as well as Kyle's Vigor and Lama videos which I can post if anyone is interested.
Kyle has been flying for about 2.5 years but has been coming to the field with me since he was 2. We do everything together. I can count on one hand the number of times I have been out to fly without him. He loves it and wouldn't have it any other way.
He has a passion for flying and practices on the simulator every day. When he isn't practicing he watches Youngblood and Szabo videos. He studies the flights and then incorporates them in to his flights. You see the styles in Kyle's video.
Again, thank you for the kind words. I don't give Kyle free access to the internet but we do read the threads together and appreciate the feedback.

Very neat to see... my boy just turned 2 and he loves playing on the simulator as much as I do. Here is what makes the younger crowd better than use older folks. Let me start off by saying I'm a much better pilot on the sim and I do crap on there that amazes myself but I can't for the life of me do it at the field. Why? Because there isn't a red button you can push to auto fix the model. It's all in our heads... we know if we crash we are gonna pay for it. Now why does this make the younger crowd better? Simply put, they don't have the money to worry about. They can practice on the simulator and directly to the flying field and do it there without worry. After all daddy is the one paying for the model so the worry of money isn't even in their heads. Especially at age 9! Is this a bad thing? Hell no... but this is why the younger crowd excels why us old farts don't. I hope to have my boy flying this summer on a buddy box with a GWS Slow Stick and if he can managed to stick with it I hope to see him that good by age 9. :)

Just for kicks and this is no lie... my boys first words were Mommy, Daddy and then Airplane.

Here is a picture of the little fart about 7 months ago. About two weeks ago I was working on my Shogun and turned around to find he grabbed my Trex into the house and was pretending to be working on it.

This past Sat night I took him with me to our Indoor Flyin and the first thing he did when we got home was get on the G3 sim.

Yes, I'm a proud pappa!

GUYS: can we enter the Kid name in Guiness Book of World Record, for a Youngest 3D helicopter Pilot?......I just wonder how old is Youngblood when he started 3Ding helicopter.

I guess, the next step, the Daddy would teach the 9 year old kid to drive a Real helicopter.

Daddy, keep us posted on ur kid progress.

If you start them out young, they can really excel, while my 4 and a half year old is still on the buddy box, he’s doing quite well, and just last week he was able to fly his first complete flight completely unassisted by me.

The more they fly, the more they begin to realize they can do.

Although I’m not teaching him how to fly a heli (because I don’t know how to fly one) we do have a Heli, and I will hang on to it until such time that my son decides he might want to try it.

Our son would rather watch an RC “how to” video then any other movie and really likes to go to bed at night watching the RC video magazines.

Rstacy, I don’t doubt that video for a second, and I’m very impressed at what Kyle has been able to accomplish.

We also have real flight on the computer, and we do cars and boats as well, and the boats have helped our son to learn the reversed controls when it’s coming at you because a boat will drift in the currant much like a plane will in flight.

i just want to congratulate Kyle on his accompishments in r/c flying. however, unlike many here i am not that surprised when i hear that a youngster has excelled at flying an r/c model. imagine you have two people who have never played the piano- one an adult, the other a child. if you were to give them both lessons, the child would more than likely do better than the adult. childrens brains are just more adept at picking up new skills. add to this the availability of video games which hone motor skills and hand/eye coordination and flight sims that alow one to learn the mechanics of flight without monetary risk, and it becomes even less surprising. i'm not downplaying Kyle's accomplishment in any way- he obviously has talent. keep up the good work. :)

That was pretty amazing. At what age did you let him fly in the real world?

Kyle first flew when he was 7.
He played with the Corona 120 and did well and then the Raptor. We were always very careful because he was 7 and who could tell how a 7 year old would react in an emergency situation.
Now he flies a Vigor CS and Raptor 50. He has a Raptor 90SE just waiting for the weather to break.
He prefers the crispness and power of the 90 powered Vigor. I like having him fly the 50 as well to better understand power management.

We see a lot of comments about video games being the secret but Kyle doesn't play video games...unless we say that the simulator is a video game! Kyle's brother has a PS2 but Kyle rarely plays it.

What he does do is hang out in the shop with his "ol man" and fly the sim for hours every single day.
Practice got him to where he is.

Thanks for the great comments guys.
The music wasn't my choice but since it was Kyle's flying, what the heck. I let him pick the music.

We had an indoor fun fly yesterday.
Here are some pictures of Kyle playing with his TREX and Lama

Great flying Kyle! I hope to fly that well someday!

My 3 1/2 year old daughter has so much fun playing with my RF G3 sim I just got (she has no idea what she's doing yet, but she likes it!) Who knows, maybe I'll have a little girl RC heli pilot someday, she loves watching me fly.

Hi Andy,
We were using RFG2 which for the most part works great.
We tried RFG3 but it isn't quite ready for prime time and was put on the back burner.
We recently switched to Reflex which has quickly become the favorite.
For most flying Kyle prefers Reflex.
For autos he likes RFG3.

Thanks go to David Playfair for the awesome editing!
We couldnt do much about the overcast sky.

This was Kyle's first flights with the white paddles.
He didn't like them.
The flip rate was faster. In my opinion, too fast with a sacrifice in stability.
For all out stick banging this would be a good thing. For anything else it can be a problem.
I can only guess that greens would be worse.
He felt that the heli didn't track as well in his backwards hurricanes.
I could see where he was fighting it.
I am going to give the whites another shot just in case Kyle needs time to adapt.
Then I am going to go back to the stock blacks and see if he gets his comfort level back.

Kyle and I belong to the RAMS (www.rcplane.com) and usually fly in Macedon, NY. We have a great heli fly coming up at the end of April. Alan Szabo, Jeff Swartz, Pete Niotis, Malorie Zastrow, Jeff Green and many others are coming out for the weekend
Next weekend is the XFC (www.xfc-rc.com). We will be heading there on Thursday.
We added two new videos to Kyle's web site. One is the first time Kyle ever flew my Shogun, the other was recent video at our Macedon field.

And shame on you for being jealous of one person's fortune. Because there's always someone MUCH less fortunate than you.

And double-shame on you for saying the rest of us are thinking the same way you are. BECAUSE WE ARE NOT!

Get over it already..............I know there is many people less fortunate than me those are really the ones thinking "I wish my mommy and daddy bought big expensive toys for me to play with" because they dont have a chance in hell at even hovering an rc heli.
I am just saying when you have to buy it yourself, and on top of it all, be out working to make the money to buy it, than its a bit different than when it is (obviously) being bought for you before your of working age. Some people are just fortunate like that.I was out mowing lawns so I didnt have to wear "ducks" to school.(NIKE'S were the "sheet" back then)
I never said it still doesnt take any practice on the sim that daddy bought....oops dammit there I go again.

I'm quite confused by your logic SENECA. Are you saying that if you never get the chance to fly a heli then you won't be good at it? Duh.

I will tell you that many people have picked a heli transmitter and don't have the persistance it takes in learning to fly. 9 years old or not. Many pick up the transmitter, most put it back down before they even get hovering down. And out of the few that actually get the basics down VERY few have the coordination to pull off the moves that Kyle can. I know I've flown at least 50-60 hours and have lots of sim time and I'm not even able to fly inverted with any measure of success. I have a large budget to make repairs, etc. But that hasn't helped me much.

So obviously if you don't have a heli you won't be any good. But just the fact that you're given a heli and have unlimited budget to fly won't guarantee that you are any good. It takes loads of determination and major natural talent to pull off what Kyle makes look easy. Don't belittle his achievement because of his circumstances. It's just not nice.

Jeezus.....here we go again.......I am saying yes if I had a heli when I first wanted one at the age of 6 or 7 (and parents that would pay for the crashes a begginner would endure) I would most definately be a better pilot than waiting till I am grown up and have many other responsibilities like a job, girlfriends, and life in general.
I am not saying its for everyone and that everyone will do it but most of us that are tackling this hobby would be in the same boat cuz we are doing it and likely wish we could have started earlier in life (and had the parents to support our hobby financially etc)
No one belittled his achievment you read too much into typed words just merley stating that when we are young we are generally more able to learn things more quickly and usually most people dont get to be able to learn a hobby that is this expensive at such a young age......and that is because "His mommy and daddy are supporting his hobby" so what is the big fargging deal?It all comes back to the same thing dont it?

"There's no such thing as a natural-born pilot." ... Chuck Yeager

I think Chuck knows what he is talking about...and I bet he is glad he was able to get an early start. ;)

It all sounds like sour grapes to me. If only I had the chance to do this... If only my parents had let me do this...

It all comes down to two things in the end. Determination and skill. Some of us are born with more of the former, some of us more of the latter. Those that balance one with the other will succeed. Those that rely too much on either one by itself are doomed to mediocrity.

That's my quote. I just made it up. I wish my parents had paid for a writing tutor when I was young because I could write better quotes now;-)

We are not born with either "smart guy".We get both from our parents and our upbringing and some get a little more from their parents than others so 'zip it' why dont ya admit that some people get breaks and some have to wait for them, its really not that hard to understand.
No one said it wasnt outstanding flying for a young dude, just merely stating "how many kids that age get that opportunity"?......what they do with the oportunity is a totally different story. ;)

You said that it was "not to hard when ya got mommy and daddy supporting ya" You never mentioned that it was outstanding flying. You made it sound like anyone could fly like that. And that's what I had an issue with.

Sounds like you have a parental issue, SENECA. This discussion is now so far off topic I apologize to everyone for letting it get out of hand.

It didnt "sound" like anything, its text goofball.
Its easier when your young but usually not possible if it werent for the parents supplying the support.

Now back to the topic.

once he gets a taste of the ladies he will throw the transmitter to the ground.

Astute observation, thunder1. You probably won't be surprised to learn that the founder (guess who THAT is:rolleyes: ) and many of the regulars there were banned from other heli forums because they couldn't get along with the other kids.

No doubt that good old Bill (Seneca) will have some acidic comments toward you, and most certainly toward me. Its what he does best; spew bile and try to stir up trouble with his caustic writings. He's also very impressed with himself.

I was, at first, surprised to see him here. After all, he created his own sandbox so he could be an obnoxious turd at will. I suppose he got tired of the same old cronies and came looking for fresh folks to annoy. If you ignore him, he goes away after a while...;)

Thanks for the positive words boys. My part is easy. Kyle works hard at this.
We have been spending time flying the Hirobo X-Spec with a YS 91. This is proving to be a solid machine with very nice flying characteristics.
We posted last night's video on his web page.
www.kylerocks.com

Tonight's flying was even better but we didn't take the camera. We are gearing up for this weekend when Quique Somenzini is in town for our airplane fun fly.
Kyle will be doing heli demos.

Don't forget our heli fun fly on August 26-28.
This year we have Alan Szabo, Jeff Swartz, Pete Niotis, Malorie Zastro and Jeff Green.
Alex Rodriguez may even show.
Email me for details.

Yeah we have to work our way up the food chain. :(

Yes this is much more tasteful :D

Every site including here has their agendas and "the spot" is a bit more wide open in terms of moderation, expression personal opinions, etc. Stop in we love to "talk trash"

Hey Ray looking forward to seeing Kyle fly at IRCHA, hanging out and talking heli politics.

I don't know if I told you this before but Kyle was the one that inspired me to start flying. All my truck RC buddys were like, it is hard, it is too expensive, blah.. blah.. blah.. then I saw an older vid of Kyle flying (the Vigor I think) I was like DANG if that "kid" can do THAT... I sure as heck should be able to hover and fly around! So I will tell him "thanks" personally. :)

Unfortunatly I am not too sure about the trip to NY my work peer is going to India and I have to cover. But, I am really going to try and be there too.

You guys kill me.Remember 20 years ago just flying inverted took an act of god. This stuff is gonna fly itself in another few years.Get with the times old timers.

Why is it so hard for you goofballs to understand that if you dont have the opportunity as a child to have these neat toys that it is difficult to be good at flying them as a child?

Just always remember what Gen.Chuck Yeager said ..."There is no such thing as a natural born pilot"....I guess thats a smart azz comment too.

BTW: Steve I was here before your azz,hehehe.....There were many people who didnt care much for Jesus either. ;)
