Well I have downloaded the MetasequoiaLE CAD program and have created a model that I would like to import to FMS. However, when I go to save the model as an X file, the computer gives me this screen(pic 1) instead of the one in the tutorial that I have been following. When I go to FMS I can open the plane but am unable to see it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you Basketcase for cluing me in on Metasequoia. :)

D Zip,
The .X file is a file that only FMS can open, you're fine as far as you've got, if it's the lower box you've posted that's showing. Click the OK button and when the pathway dialog box opens, save the converted file into the FMS/Model path, you can create a folder for the model but it makes getting into the files from FMS's "model" dialog box a two step affair. The model may be too big or too small and that's where the 0.0100 scale factoring comes in.
Be careful to not change it to .100 or increase the multiplier as you'll end up with a full-scale size, (or larger... ) model that flies REALLY slow. Don't forget to make a 200X200 pixel .JPG of your model flying for the Preview. You can use PaintshopPro and the Print Screen button to do this. Save it with it's full name plus _prv, Like this,.. Litemoth_prv.

Looooeeee the second pic is the one that is in the tutorial. The first one is the one I get when trying to save as an X file. Should I change some of the settings. I changed the factor to 0.0100 but FMS still doesn't display the model. I should save it as this picture shows, right?

Well it should be C:\ Program Files\FMS\Model... The "Model" folder is where you save to in the root of FMS. Be sure that you have all your files for that particular model, named EXACTLY the same.
It's odd I've not seen that dialog box marked POV yet, it seems like the wrong function to me, but I'm still using Win98se on my machine. Did you do your preliminary set up adjustments for MQLE as instructed before starting to make this model?

I'm not sure what you mean by preliminary settings, but I am using Windows XP. I'll try saving it directly to the Model file in FMS. Thanks for all the ideas :D

Hi D Zipper, glad to see you have it figured out, sorry I didn't see this thread in time to contribute.
It sounds like the new version of Metasequoia was the problem? That's very good to know, now I'll plan on keeping my current version even though there is an update available. Thank you for teaching us. :)
And congratulations on your new FMS plane.

Yes, the new version was the problem. I'm sure there is a way to make it work, but until someone else finds it out I'll stick with the older one.
Being able to make my own plane for FMS has a very rewarding feeling. :D

Yes, that's why I burned two copies of MQLE2.1 to CD last year. as I'm always thrown when someone changes the programming on a free download. Is the newer version MQLE 2.2 or something like that? I'll have to remember that. Incidently, I've found the older version on a Brazilian freeware hosting page.

Well I found both versions here (http://www.excite.co.jp/world/english/web/?wb_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww21.ocn.ne.jp%2F%7Emizno%2F metaseq%2Findex.html&wb_lp=JAEN&wb_dis=2&wb_co=excitejapan). Of course I had to download the latest version. But the older version was there too. Here's my second try I had to try something that looked unusual, but that I knew was real. :D
