 I've build't the canopy for the Sophisticated Lady and now debating if to attache the canopy to the fuselage using the rubber band as per the instructions,or do as GWS does with their canopy on the P-51D using magnets, my only concern is that the magnets would be above the receiver and i'm not sure if the would have any affect on the receiver  if you have any idea's on this let me know, Thanks guy for all the information you have given me in the past in building the sailplane.

Magnets don't present any problem on my planes.
Radio Shack has smaller, more powerful magets that work well.

Aircraft world has them as well. from 22 cents a peice and lots of different sizes. I use the 5 x 5 x 1 mm ones for holding down canopys, hatches and cowels and they work brilliantly. Normally I just mount one on a surface and a small peice of metal, like a snapped off bit of craft knife blade on the other.

You could always put the peg in back and the magnet in front.

Hey Bill,
I got some rare earth magnets at radio shack. They are about 1/8th dia x 1/16th. Teeny tiny little suckers, but powerful, I got them for holding on a hatch and will probably use one with a piece of metal as already mentioned.
