I am considering building 2 and 3 mtr sailplanes from scratch using composite material..foam wing bagged..Pod and boom construction..Several flying buddies would make use of these also..

I have read many many threads on the various designs..

My question is what would be the best bet for a general purpose Pod for two meter and three meter planes..I just want to make one female mold for multipurpose use. Even something that would accept a small motor in the front..As you can see..multiple use is the goal..These are for casual thermal
seeking..no contests..leasure flying..

I have looked at the Aegena, BubbleDancer, Allegro from the charles river rc site..

Any insite..comments..recommendations..ect greatly welcome..

I would like to get started on the pod plug sometime in the near future..I can cut it out of wood, blue foam..form and polish ect..

Thanks in Advance

The length for pods between 2 and 3 meters is going to be a bit of a long stretch for sizing. I'd suggest one pod for the smaller and a second for the larger. Between 2 meter to 100 inch standard class would work fine off one mold but I think a pod that works for the whole 150% size range would look too big at the smaller span sizing and too small at the larter span size.

If it was me I'd add in some small stubs for the wing rods to mount to with a molded in "scribed" line to indicate the wing angle. Probably set it at 1.5 to 2 degrees positive. This would be used for aligning the wing rod drilling. I'd keep it so a smaller shape and make it sort of a small non descript airfoil shape. Later this little stub pod would be fleshed out with filler to match the actual wing airfoil. The outer sides of these wing rod stubs would be parallel and act as a reference for mounting the wings. Keeping the pod small and sort of airfoil shaped would still give you an inch or so of variation in where and how you mount the wings.
