Hey everyone, I'm new to an area that does Zagi combat and I need some info about what to get! What's the best wing (since there are so many I find) and speed controller and batteries and what else do I all not know? I've been flying a lot over the past years, so I'm no stranger to flying, just not sure what to get for this purpose. Carbon spar LE and special props? Clue me in guys :-)

Thanks!
Dan

For Zagi like planes I like the
Wing Warriors Raider ultimate spar.

Great flying wing and un breakable.
If they allow any motor combination, Me and my friends do, I would recommend this setup

Jeti 40 ESC or CC 35
Mega motors 16/15/4C if you cannot find that get the Mega Motors 22/10/5
8-9 Cells of KAN 1800's
HS-81MG servo's
Make Coroplast Elevons
Top it off with a Computer Radio and you'll be the bad A$$ in the sky.

please note that that the 16/15/4 and the 16/15/4c are different. The first will break and the second will not.

Almost forgot use MA 7 x 4 props. They are cheap and take a beating.
For battery mounting I use straps that go all the way to threw the bottom of the wing... I use a little coroplast to reinforce this area

I have a few vids on my site Jstelzer.com

I have hundreds of crashes and have only had to do minor repairs.

Thanks Highflier for the info! I couldn't get the videos to work on your website, but I would like to see them... chance you could fix the link?

You put carbon LE on it, or for combat not need it? How's it perform with a speed 400 as compared to the mega (I know BL will totally outperform, but curious to hear the comparison)?

Thanks!

Dan,
Something is a little goofy with the link, but the files are there and I can view them on my system. Try and save target then play them. I find I have to do that on some sites.

No carbon on the leading edge they are 100% EPP. EPP is very strong foam. The 5 peices are carbon that come in the Ultimate spar kit are in the center of the wing. They help keep it stiff so that it handles better.

I never flew mine on a brushed system. A friend started out with the 400 Long can. It did ok but it was a different look in the air. Flying to pick up a little speed then loop or roll and fly again. During combat with the brushless system, I am virturally always manuvering to try and make a kill. Those manuvers really cost a lot of energy... Thus with a brushless system the motor is always keeping the energy up.... with the lower perfomance of a brushed system you would eventually run out of airspeed and tip stall. All that said if you are going to stay brushed. The WW is not bad. I found that it held the energy better then a Zagi. It does fly faster then a Zagi so it takes a little more skill on the sticks.

I Usually just order then Wing cores only straight from WW. I think that is 55ish dollars, The rest I just supply myself.

I found that my eZipper is much more manuverable and flys much faster in comparison to my Zagi 400x, even though they had the same power system.
Not to mention that the Wing Warriors are cheaper.

Hey thanks for the new info guys. The group I'm trying to get up with seems to be down for the winter, so I will have some more time to research before I bite the bullet... A link on the eZipper? I've flown a Wedgie, how does that compare to a Zagi?

Thnx!
Dan

Here's a link to the Wing Warrior (http://wingwarrior.com/zen/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_2) site. :D
And here's another site (http://www.yourzagi.com/) that tells you everything you need to know about wings.
