Are there any games or simulators for the Playstation that might give my son (7) a feel for RC flight? I could sneak it in for him and he'd learn without realizing it (G)
No, I'm a Mac person, no PC's in this house. Any good Mac versions?

R/C Stunt Copter is pretty cool. Got it used at gamestop or game gallery I don't remember but it was like $7.99. Pretty cool game and a lot of fun too. I want to know if there are any RC Plane games for PSOne. I have seen two others for helis and about 4 for Cars but NO Plane Games.....

I bought RC Helicopter from Amazon for something like $3.25 - that should have told me something right there (G).
It's pretty cheezy.
However, It's giving the kids "the feel" if nothing else. It WAS worth the three bucks (G)

If you're a Mac guy, try X-Plane. It's a full scale sim. I personally use Microsoft FS2004 but they don't make it for Mac. The full scale ones are a lot more fun than the R/C ones because the amount of free addons is unlimited. I can fly everything from a small balsa glider to an Antonov 225. Flight principles are the same.

I have a copy of X-Planes on the way. Since the kids have macs in their rooms, we'll see how they do with that .
The PS2 question actually has more madness to the method than may be apparient. Since the control box is very similar to a two stick Tx, AND because my younger is, ah, facile with the PS2 control, I was looking in that direction to sorta slide it in on him.
However, I susepct he'll be delighted wtih the Mac version as well. I guess they do accrue some benefits from havingt a Technodroid Dad. (VBG)

Slops Soar Sim (SSS) is free and runs on a Mac. Has a power option and works well with the dual stick gamepads.

Guess I'd better order a Mac gamepad then (G). The one I looked at is set up and looks exactly like a USB Playstation unit.

lol a true technodroid dad would know you're missing out on so many things using a mac, especially spending the money you wouldve saved if youd bought a top notch pc instead. I use a mac at work and they are "nice." But come on... get a PC next time and you 're kid will be coding his own sim by age 12.

Hum, someone needs to tell this to the guys at Sandia and Los Alamos where I did tech support. Those guys couldn't dump their PC's FAST enough to move to Mac. They were scientists and didn't WANT to be computer guys. The Mac was the answer.
In any event, that's what I use and I'm won't do the Mac v the world anymore.
Since Mac/Apple has effectively allowed me to make a living since '84 without having to "work," I owe them some alligence.

i suppose the mac might be your choice and that of los alamos. However, from a scientifists point of view (i was a physics major graduated 2004), I find PCs are completely capable in every aspect, and not a person who interfaced with custom equipment used a mac.
Look man, Macs are great computers in many ways. I admit this. Truthfully though, I do a lot on computers: gaming, 3d animation, video editing, pro engineer/solid works, networking, on and on, and I choose PC just like the rest of the world. The #1 voted video game for 2002-2003 was BF 1942, and it is wasnt realesed on Mac until just recently. Gaming forums for mac users might as well be called "last years releases." 3d animation programs for mac? late releases and higher prices. HIGHER PRICES all around for mac. How are they better? Los alamos is a huge facility, and in general they choose PC platforms equally if not more I assure you. Real scientists prefer superior control to simplicity. REAL electronics programmers use PC interfaces, that is if they have any sense of value and any limits on budget.
Sorry to start the MAC vs. PC thing, but really: you want an rc sim, I say if you had a PC you'd have one.
