Hi People,
A number of folk responded with some excellent suggestions a couple of weeks
ago where I mentioned that T4 was having problems in the first 20-30 seconds
of the run after which it was fine.
Well I finally got around to pulling the motor apart (A Team Orion V2
Revolution, 12 turn single). With the end bell off, I was surprised that
pulling one of the shunts didn't seem to move the brush when viewed from the
inside. A bit of prodding and a large (3mm long) part of the brush simply
dropped out onto the bench. The brush has completely sheared through. This
is on a motor with 1 practise, 3 heats and a final in it!
Not impressed - although I certainly was impressed when it was running. And
who knows, now that both brushes are in one piece it should run even better,
eh?
