a couple of issues back in the magazine fly rc on the last page it had an article about a guy that had designed an adjustable pitch propeller that he created from some tail rotor parts that would allow him to go into reverse pitch on this electric powered airplane they had a picture of him hovering nose down and said he could actually climb backwards, and the other tricks were unreal the author called this 4-d flying

Helicopters do the same thing and we still call it 3D.
4D would obviously mean rotating along the time axis. I'm not sure what this means, but I would recommend distributing airsick bags before attempting this.

Joke about it if you like, but once you master 4D flight you can go back to right before a crash and save it. Never fails to impress the crowd (if they don't start vomiting, that is)

'nuff already, you guys already know the answer.
4D is what you call your plane to make it stand out amongst the quickly growing crowd of 3D planes. Why just 3D when you can 4D, don't you know?
In the foamy plane world, there's two planes I can think of that are marketed this way--Geoge Hicks' Tensor 4D and the Zoom-Zoom 4D. I believe a tensor is a physics concept used in modelling advanced relativity models involving four dimensions, Zoom-zoom is just, well, Zoom-zoom.
Now I agree with the other heli pilots, if ANYTHING should be called 4d, its the heli flying I saw. I was blown away by the foamy 3D movement in planes, but only got interested in heli flight about 6 months ago, not knowing what they could do. WOWWWW, what an eye-opener when I started checking out some of the heli flying. The planes might "break" the laws of flight, but these helis completely OBLITERATE them. So I'm building a little Trex electric to learn on, and I've decided what my new obsession has to be--learning 3D heli flight.

4-D is when you have left your regular 3-D atmosphere and enter
into another.. aka.. the 'DIRT'..
It's that forth 'D' that get's you..
We've all done 4-D before, you just didn't know it..
stick to 3-D.. it's a lot cheaper...
Have fun flying..

4D is stopping the plane while its nose if going towards the groung.Like Hovering upside down. Also flying backwards.this opens a new tricks and plane design.move the CG back and make plane that can fly backwards.Too cool this will take the RC world by storm.Get in on the action

4d is still 3d, but it is a catchy name to distinguish "vpp 3d" from a bunch of letters :D

if you really want to look at it correctly, the 4th dimension is time.
So if you got an rc plane that can time travel, you could fly your schedule but do it going back in time. Thats 4d.

They dont last or hold up very well. Your lucky if you get 3 flights before it overheats and fails

even though it is called 4D it is actually still 3 dimentional with depth, Height and Width there is no other dimention in real life

So a hydro flyer is 4D becoes it can be used as a rc car AND a boat. So I guess a hydro flyer would be a 5D flyer. But with a pps prop (push-pull-system) it would be a 6D flying plane. WOW!!! COOL!!

Actually time is not a dimension... but 4D is flying nose down or reversing the prop pitch.
The weird thing is that shock flyers are 2D scale planes, they try to fly 3D and now 4D; Imagine what a full 3D scale plane can do!

Ok folks...just calm down, back up and put the transmitter down.
"3D" stands for three-dimensional. As in your aircraft moves in X, Y and Z axis. There is NO such thing as the 4th dimension when RC flight is involved. Just because some dude made a plane fly backwards doesn't mean he's able to transcend time and space.
Now if some guy really does start doing true "4D" flying, please let me know, 'cause I want to be there to travel back to 1996 to fix some really stupid things I did... :p

Woaaa....4D?:) Aaa....I know...it can disappear and be at any point in time past, present, or future. Does it require a special gyro for this???:D:D

Oh come on guys you all know time is the fourth dimention...I remember my grandfather telling me "time is s fourth dimentional equalibrium which is indirectly semi proportional to speed"
Where on Earth....How on Earth / Why on Earth did I remember that ??

Maybe they meant "4WD" and posted in the wrong forum.
