I had posted a request for a trial forum, on Paper Airplanes. It got 6 views :-( I was just going to ask if anybody here was interested in paper airplanes, for any reason, and would sign my petition by agreeing with my request :-) I figure there are plenty of people here, and you guys all like free flight.

On another note, does anybody here actually compete or knows somebody who competes with paper airplanes? I'm very interested.

Paper airplanes are fun, alright, if you have the arm for it. I just got the Paper Airplane Book for Christmas, and it is interesting alright, but I for one couldn't get into participating in an active forum on the subject. When I was a kid, I used to go to the top of the tallest building in town with a pad of typewriter paper hidden in my jacket, and spend the afternoon flying. But that was then, this is (55 years later!) now. Best of luck attracting attention, though.

Paper planes you say take a look at www.jetex.org.uk > paper_planes

You can even try 'em Jetex powered!

Hey, TerryK, is that a Guy Faukes (?) day project? I can see just the smallest error becoming quite spectacular! Oops, I guess I shouldn't say anything until I look at the site...

I remember when I was really bored at the mall one time I was lighting the tails of paper airplanes and throwing them off! It was awesome fun :-) The updraft would send them up and they'd burn up before they ever hit the ground!

Well are paper airplanes more inflamable than the balsa and doped tissue that Jetex/Rapier are generally made out of? I suspect not :)

You're likely right!

It's mad fun!! Especially in Winter, or Spring, when most is frozen or wet and there's plenty of wind :-)

Not that I totally condone the activity, but if you do I suggest a plane that really soars, and soak the keel in somthing flammable, such as wax. It works awesome!

I LOVE paper airplanes!! I design my own, and if I may say so, one or two fly great. I'll get some plans uploaded sometime...they aren't the kind you just fold and throw, but they're not too complex or time-consuming to build.
