View Full Version : Third Channel Ideas

Like many racers, I have a 3-channel FM radio. All my recievers are 3
channel as well. None of my vehicles make use of the third channel.

I was wondering if anyone has found a use for it in an electric racing
vehicle. Since I am not of the "technical driver" type and more prone to
bouncing off objects as I try to get around the track a few oz. here or
there will not matter to me. I was thinking maybe a horn would be cool.
When I hit a pipe and the corner marshall is staring at the wall I could
have my vehicle go "beep-beep" to get some attention.

Just wondering if anoyone went down this road and what they found. Thanks!

I have seen a third channel used to activate a light kit for nighttime
fun...

The guys at www.ultimaterc.com had a class for a 3rd channel weapon
attachment that was pretty funny.

The electric E-Maxx monster truck uses the 3rd channel to shift gears.

I *like* the beeping idea.

Basically you can come up with anything you want a servo to do.

I was thinking about a circuit that would plug in between the channel
1 and unused channel three that would attenuate the steering signal.

that way you could have dual rates on cheap TXs. :-) My Revo's
steering is pretty twitchy and I don't use reverse very much...
