Which is a better 3D sim?

I can only speak for AFP, but it is excellent, and Ikarus just came out with AFP deluxe, which has all the fancy photorealistic scenery that RTX has, and I am guessing that the 3D physics are still excellent.

Quite a flood of responses. If I get the pro do you know if there is an upgrade to deluxe?

There is an upgrade.

Ive flown both, and the new Realflight G3, Get AFP hands down. Reflex sucks for flying, but looks good. G3, just sucks period really.

Come on Josh...how do you really feel about G3..... been there..done that with G3 myself and I must say AFP it must be.
G3 is pretty good if you don't want to learn 3D on it....

It looks like the Pro to Deluxe upgrade will cost $80.

So if your getting your first sim AFP Deluxe USB, looks like the way to go!

The graphics on G3, arent as good as AFP, and couldnt touch Reflex, for looks. But the way it flies. Its a good simulator to get coordination. But it doesnt 3d realisticly still. Aerofly Deluxe is going to rock, I think. Shockies Indoors on a sim :-)

I have an opportunity to buy a used Aerofly pro for $100. Should I do that with the possibility of an $80 upgrade or go straight top the deluxe version? What does the deluxe add to the pro?

AFP pro version sells new for $100 now, I would get the deluxe straight off.

So the concensus is Aerofly pro is similar to Reflex xtr but the deluxe is better than Reflex?

You are right about the price of the pro. I am trying to get the used version for less.

The latest update of Reflex has several indoor planes, including a shocky and an indoor basketball court. So, flying indoor with a shocky on a sim...works great in reflex.

XTR is mor photo realistic, but G3 pushes your computer harder spec wise.

Most people that try G3 knock it because they dont have the realism setting high enough.

G3 for me wins hands down.

Well thanks guys. I have purchased Aerofly Pro today. I think I got a good deal. $80 shipped w/ Futaba interface. Photrealism is nice but it is really the Physics that is important to me. It is after all a tool not a game.

You have the right attitude, some people on here think they are playing DOOM!

I have XTR and G3 both are great progs, but you cant beat the real thing!!!

Weather over here in the UK is $h!te now. Most strips are water logged.

I just want a sim to get some hours in to develop my skill in flying a real model.... with a bit of fun thrown in on the side.

I am not into all the mine is better than yours like some people on here.

Enjoy your sim mate.

im in a similar situation, with the G3 vs AFD vs reflex, overall, which sim would win? im more for realistic flight than graphics so that might change a few things.

Welp, for Graphics, XTR wins. When it comes to flight. AFP, XTR in at 2nd, and G3 last. The graphics of G3 vs AFP are kind of close, but I think AFP's graphics are better. XTR is really great if you just want to fly, and want good graphics. for realistic flying, especially 3d, get Aero fly pro.

I use the usb interface from rfg2 with AFP and it works well. You still have to plug in the AFP cord though as it has the program Key for the software to run.

The Newest AFP Deluxe has a USB connection that is included, this sim has the graphics of XTR and still retains the great physics of AFP.

AFPD sounds like it's is now 'THE SIM' to have.

again just my .02

Happy holidays,
