WOW - I got my USB interface cable today & after fiddling with FMS for a few minutes to set it up right, I can't believe how cool this software is!!!

Yeah, I'm sure it's "lame" compared to the $200 simulators, but for free, IT ROCKS!!!

Where can I get more heli's?

Thanks,

Buzz

Buzz,

I love FMS aswell,

lately i have been making planes to fly in the program using Metasequoia, i would be happy to make you a heli that you haven't seen for fms, just provide me some photos..

Get the GPH model from the rc-sim.de site that BC lists above. Before I got $200 sims I found that it was the best one for learning in FMS as it is so "skittish" and is the only one that gets anywhere near how real R/C heli flying is. Also add a reasonable amount of wind and gusts and you start to get a feeling for heli flying (but ultimately get XTR cos it's as close to reality for heli flying as simulators get!)

Another near free rc helicopter simulator that works with usb to rc transmiter interface cable is hosted here: http://rcflightsim.com

I've been using 3D CAD for many years - I can create a CAD model of anything - but could I get it into FMS if I modeled it?

yes as long as you save it as a .X file, use a exsiting .PAR file to make things easer and just alter it to your prefrance.

There are a few Bell 47's and Hughes 300's on one of the links in the last link I posted above.

Thanks everyone!!! I am enjoying the FMS setup very much. I have the latest version which runs great with Windows XP . . . I am getting the "feel" back again and it's totally getting me psyched about flying my new heli which arrived Saturday.

Wife wasn't "thrilled" about me getting into heli's again . . . I told her it could be worse - I could be into drugs or having an affair with another woman.

That really didn't help strengthen my case very much. Honestly, I just wonder if these are really my kids - I still have a 10, 13 & 15 at home and they could "care less" about r/c planes & helis - must have the wife's genes, I guess.

I've downloaded several heli's - one of my favorites is the Hughes 300. I'm trying to re-learn the basics with wind & gusts - again, I realize this isn't as good as "commercial" software, but I'm getting super-valuable pre-flight coordination that has got to pay off when I finally crank up my real heli.

I think I'll pay the folks at FMS something via PayPal - this software has saved me a nice little chunk of change. I REALLY love FMS - regardless of it's "less than premium" quality, to me, it's WONDERFUL!!!

Thanks,

Buzz

FMS sure is free, and I love it when I was flying planks, but when you get serious or just like having a true feel of how helis fly and react in the real world. The close or next best thing to reality, where you can almost taste the smoke of a heli and feel the grass is "Reflex XTR"

XTR has taught me a lot and to execute the maneuvers in real life. XTR adapts to the settings of my radio, Pitch, gyro, THRV and THR Hold, blows me away.

I sold my Real Flight and the best investment, that I've put my money into is XTR.

FMS is good, but then again it's limited to what it can do, in the heli-world, where precision counts, and no room for mistakes. XTR is for me:)
